Paint Shop Pro Talk

Hey thank you Hands Off! the original is 4 times bigger. I drew it in a Canson sketchbook.

I find the most useful feature of some of these new programs is the ability to rotate the pictures and toggle back and forth from full screen to thumbnail view. That way you can just quickly go through all pictures and rotate them so the ones taken with the camera sideways will be correct for viewing. What I've been using, XnView, only does this for JPG's, however, I haven't updated in a long time so maybe that is no longer true!

and Picasa can rotate and enhance picture too! ANW, I keep both of them for they are light on resources and can team up pretty well.

This is another photo-2-art program. this is the water color from "Virtual Painter". With VP the computer does all the work. One would have to admit that it takes no talent at all to use. In this case I used it on a picture that I created in photoshop, so I don't feel I have to admit anything!

Nice pic here! Virtual Painter is REAL COOL I have it as a plugin but I haven't used it since some time ago. I know some people who use Gertrudis to make painting from their photographs or images. It sounds like a nice application too.

Well anyways, congratulations! Sorry I haven't made it over there yet - I've been getting more than usual support at Flickr so I am enjoying the moment. I decided to post something a little different. It is the result of trial and error, but I like the effect, and hope to perfect it! (On the off chance that you do not see any effect, I mean how the trees and deer stand out, "pop out" from the background.

Very cool Mac, certainly does make them stand out. Anyway, they've revamped the site over there with anonymous prize contests a couple of times every week..cameras, mp3 players, software etc. They are giving away an acer laptop as a prize for one contest in November!

 

Wow congratulations bigbuck!!! well, you know, this is not really a surprise... you did very cool & original graphics at those Photoshop Contests!!! ...I can see the last one you did with the "toady" texture, lol!. Hope you'll be back soon!

I agree the colours come out very well and it could make a fine ilustration too.


I did this one recently with Bryce, then I drew the tiny cowboy in Paint Shop and rendered it *again* in Photoshop. This is an Aussie horse, the kind that can climb mountains very easily, I do not remember the name of the breed...so if someone can let me know, I'll be glad to know what kind it is...

I like your picture Uguel! I thought that maybe it was a "Photo Manipulation" - The catagory that applies to most of what I've done lately. The mountain looks reminiscent of El Capitan. The horse and rider look very majestic! I doubt I would get that close to the edge on horseback. I mean, what if the fool creature slips?

thanks Hands-Off!. Well, yes, in a way it is an image manipulation... The mountain in the sky were done in Bryce. Then I drew the cowboy in PSP and in the end, I added some sky effects in Photoshop. I had to retouch the mountain a bit for the edges were a bit aliased. Next time, I wil set the render option to ultra-fine though.

..you won't slip with an Aussie horse, lol! Have you ever watched "Man from the Snowy River" movie? One cowboy got one of those climber horses that was very agile when ascending mountains; it was very impressive to see it climbing and making its way along the rocky steep terrain. It never stumbled or fell. It is very sure-footed, you see.

 

Yeah? well not as sure footed as my belly, which would be what I would be walking on that close to the edge of the cliff!

Well, I think this thread has lived long and well, we had a great time sharing our ideas and answering questions pertaining to Paint Shop Pro and sometimes other graphic programs as well. But as you have probably noticed, we are getting less and less posts pertaining to Paint Shop so I don't see any reason for us to leave this thread open. It's been a long and pleasant journey and I thank everyone who joined in. I will never forget how fun and interesting this thread was and how much the people were eager to learn and progress!
