New York City. I am so please with this product, so far. I feel it is essential to be able to do a complete restore, including the registry and all programs and passwords. Just having data files backed up is not enough. Over a period of several years, one might spend countless hours installing and fine tuning programs and utilities. If you suddenly had to install them all from scratch, why, you might have a hard time remembering everything you installed, and where you downloaded it from.

I create a folder called down, and in that folder, i create folders for each application I download, so that it is all in one place.

Also, I use netvous.com to store and categorize all my urls that I frequently reference. And, I can log into netvous.com from any machine, and instantly have access to all those links.

I purchased Acronis True image from a large store that sells hardware and software. I went to where all the external drives were, hoping to find a drive that advertises a complete windows restore, but not one single brand mentioned the nature of their restore. So I started asking customers, and someone mentioned Ghost. Well, I went to the software section, and the salesperson said, Oh, you cant purchase Ghost anymore by itself, but it comes with these other Norton utilities. But then she showed me Acronis. I had some bad experiences with a suite of Norton products, which seemed to make my machine unstable, (though I must confess that machine was Windows 9:cool:. But I did not need all those other Norton products, so I went with Acronis, and I am sure glad that I did.

One tip I learned was, do not try to open the dvd/cd drawer while a backup is taking place, because my machine got confused, and I had to reboot.

Another tip: If you are using an external drive such as MYBOOK, then, create a folder on it of BACKUP, and within that folder, create a folder for the backup you want to do (being as descriptive as possible, presuming you will archive many different backup images). Because, once you start to backup, and it asks you where, you can navigate to the target folder, but you cannot create a new folder on the fly.

Sure. It's easy if you read them as they are made, one or two at a time. ;)
