    Hello,

I've the opportunity to use Symantec Anti-virus Corporate (not Norton Anti-Virus). How does it compare to say NOD, DR Web & Kaspersky detectionwise?

Is it like this :thumb: or like that :thumbd: ?

    Kind regards,

    PeterVO

Its detection rates are better, have support for more packers and has strong heuristic detection rates. Tested. ;)

Yeah the corporate versions have always been very good. I used the older versions 8 & 9 back in the days and they kept me out of trouble. I always liked the corporate versions as they didn't have all the bloat that norton antivirus did.

    Hello,

thank you for your replies :) but one question remains unanswered: how does it compare to the other AV-programs mentioned in my original post?

Are some comparative tests available regarding Symantec AV and those "big" three?

    Kind regards,

    PeterVO

Another nice thing about Symantec antivirus is that it will update several times a day. the down side is that if you have to do an unmanaged install you will have to manually update. Which is not all that bad.

I believe he stated that the engines are the same.

    [edit]
See below, detection rate was the correct answer[/edit]

i said the data on av-comparatives can be used, as SAV and NAV have under same circumstances the SAME detection rates.

The corporate edition of Symantec have always been better than their Norton brethern in my opinion consume less resources and have a better detection rate.I used the version 9 of it in my office till earlier this year and was quite satisfied with it.

yep IBK is right. Both versions have the same scan engine, and same signatures-
how can there be a difference in detection ?
i assume we're talking about the latest versions ?

Agree ! I have also tested it , the same detection rate . The corporate edition is better because it is ligher on resourses and the UI is more beautiful , I think :)

Compared to other program -> Symantec is Symantec , others are other . More detailed info , see Av-Comparatives' site :) :thumb:

Norton av always seems to do well in av tests so i'd say that the corporate versions effectiveness is right up there with the best of them. All your suggestions are excellent so it really comes down to user preference.

I can give you an answer about vs NOD32. I've sold and installed dozens and dozens and dozens of Sym Corp Edition setups since around version 5. Around version 9 I started getting disappointed in it, looking to others..landed with NOD32. Once the bloated version 10 came out..I completely stopped selling it. After a while, with my clients, as their Symantec licensing expired, I replaced it with NOD32 Enterprise Edition.

On pretty much every single network I've upgraded...NOD32 will find things that Symantec never ever flagged....within hours I'll have the management console lighting up with reds as workstations report in.

I also have much less as far as ad/spyware problems..pretty much nothing.

My clients also often immediately comment on how much quicker and lighter their PCs feel to them, once Symantec is removed and NOD installed.
