dah145, I have read here and there that the KIS firewall is not so great - but I'm not sure how well-informed this view is. Others have said that, while KAV is great, the KIS suite is not the best - I would be interested to know of some objective comparisons that compared, say the KIS suite with Trend Micro's suite on firewall, AV, and other functions.

Re the 3-user deal for Trend, the Australian website is advertising it for AUD $79.95 for 1 year, or $99.95 for 2 years - an excellent deal.

I was actually more interested in the BitDefender deal - AUD $86 for 2 users, 2 years for the full suite, or $61 for 2 users, 2 years for the AV-Plus product. I have tried BD8 and I liked it - not sure if BD10 will have too many bugs though...

No, thats evident, but it won't stop you from being opinionated will it.;)

If you really think Trend is better than Kaspersky...then the best of luck to you, but if you looked carefully you would have noticed IBK saying it haven't improved detectionwise.
    .
You're not getting your head bitting off, your ridiculous claims are being challenged, nothing more and you don't like it because you're here to spam the message that Trend-micro 2007 is invincible.:)

Well seeing how outpost pro firewall version 4 rc4 can pass all those leaktests and kaspersky and nod32 are known to be at the top of the heap in av protection and aren't afraid to prove it, I can't see what trend suite has to offer other than being cheaper I guess, well maybe not as you will probably have to buy more ram with trend lol. Running nod32 av and outpost pro 4 on this laptop I am using combined ~30mb and there certainly is no noticable slowdowns of any kind. Why would anyone want to give up 100mb more in ram for a security suite that is inferior?

I have two newer computers running the nod32 and outpost firewall combination and my old pentium 3 750mhz machine is not even phased by running outpost pro combined with kaspersky av. I could just see putting trend 2007 on that computer with 384mb of ram and having more than 1/3 of ram eaten up right off the bat by the trend security suite. I'm sorry but 130mb of ram usage for a security suite is ungodly no matter how quick you claim the computer runs. And I don't see any point in that file lock thingy because you can use encrytion software freely avaiable to protect sensitive info on a drive and also most laptops will have an option to lock access to the harddrive even if it is removed and someone is trying to gain access.

Not trying to be rude or anything, but you keep raving on how great trend 2007 is, but other solutions use so much less ram and have proven to be superior so I don't get it. And trend chickening out of the av testing is pretty lame to say the least. I say put up or shut up to trend on the av issue, and you haven't shown anything trend 2007 can do that other apps can't do as well or better.

I tried their newest version. It wasnt bad for the price. But in no shape or form, can you compare it to Kas or Nod. I just feel that the future suite for Antivir will provide better protection and will be my choice.

why is this a AV forum?

its a security forum and this is a trend 2007 thread, which includes a firewall so the topic comes up and rightly so, should do.

I do not mean to put words in Hammers mouth but what I feel he means and what I'll ask We do is confine our discussion of trend to it's av since this is our other anti-virus software forum. For those wishing to discuss leaktests and what not in regard to trend and it's firewall feature....Please do so in our other firewalls forum.

    Thanks,
    Bubba

2 off topic posts have been removed, anything further along these lines and this thread will be wrapped up.

I wanted to try it a couple of years ago but couldn't find the boxed version in Toronto. I liked the GUI and read some good reviews at the time. I even contacted Trend and chastised them at the time for not providing competition for Symantec and McAfee in Canadian retail stores. I see it's now available in Staples Business Depot, but is still not widely available here. I can't use it at present though on my old machine. CPU's to slow and my memory's to low judging from others posts.
