Checksum

Hey,
I'm looking for a good free checksum / hash checking software. Basically, I need a quick way to compare MD5 and SHA1 hashes. Any recommendations?

I use dsMD5 & dsSHA v1.02 on the desktop
quick and simple but I suppose it depends on

I use mstMD5 from http://www.mstsoftware.com/cFreeware.aspx .

 

SlavaSoft has something called HashCalc (link below). Perhaps it could be useful?

I like NIS Filecheck. It uses SHA1, RIPEMD160, or Haval, no MD5.

Place a shortcut to the program in the SendTo directory (C:\Documents and Settings\[name]\SendTo) so you can send arbitrary files to it from the Explorer shell.

 

FileAlyzer; it's another right-click explorer program. it does alot more then just give the checksums though.

I have an old version of digestIt (version 2003).
I don't have digestIt 2004.
I just checked the site of digestIt 2004 and saw a few screenshots of digestIt 2004 on Vista:

For comparing the checksum of two files I use CryptoSuite (not free) from Jason (see dedicated forum here at Wilders).
I really like it !

And ... I use NISFileCheck (version beta 1.0.0.7) for having a database of the most important files on my system and checking on-demand whether they have changed (see archived forum here at Wilders).

It integrates into the Windows right click menu and also allows pasting the calculation into the clipboard or a file. Calculates MD5, SHA-1, or CRC32.
