Can any one please tell me when running a scan programme for viruses, Trojans Etc is it better to use the
    Scanning programme when….

    A. Off line ( no internet connection )
    B. On Line ( with internet connection on )
    C. Off Line but in Safe Mode

The reason I ask is that ive been running my scan programs while I surf the internet…?
Does it really make any difference when you run a scan..?

    Thanks ………………. Mypenry

A scan means heavy disk activity so i would advise to do while offline with no programs opened.

i just run my scans in normal windows with my internet connection active. ive had no problems with this yet.

antivir and nod32 are very fast so i can just wait them out or check my email.

When you say "the best time to scan", it appears to do it in Ultimate safe mode.
But a usual safe mode without network connection will do it in my opinion.

If your PC is infected, than I would choose this one. Most malicious software will not run in Safe Mode (like startup keys), so exe is not locked and can be removed by antimalware soft.

As for a rutine scan, you can scan anytime you want, it does matter, it just takes resources.

I would recommend doing the scan without being connected and with as little open programs/windows as possible. Scans tend to consume computer resources and also may conflict with other programs (I had a conflict between my resident antivirus program and antispyware scanning programs).

I normally do my updating then run any scans off-line.
I don't know if that is the "best",that's just how I do it.

I don't run them anymore, it takes too much time and not sufficient enough for me.
I roll back in the past, where everything was still OK. :)
