    Hi nas

    Quote from BCWIPE web site
BCWipe software enables you to confidently erase files that can never be recovered by an intruder

    One thing I don't understand.
BCwipe is supposed to delete data so thoroughly, that it can't be recovered by anything or anyone, which means lost forever.
If a recovery software is able to recover BCwiped data, than BCwipe doesn't do a very good job.

In your case, I hope BCwipe doesn't do a good job and you find a recovery software that is able to recover your data on your external harddisk, but I doubt it very much.
If BCwipe doesn't remove data sufficiently, I would have second thoughts about the quality of BCwipe.

the effectiveness of bcwipe can easily be controlled by the user. if u only wipe once, there is a higher chance of data recovery than if u use 10 passes.

but anyways, good luck nas :thumb:

    Sorry nas,
I think the way that those softwares work is by writing data over the file that you chose to delete. This essentially means even if the software sucked and left data partially unwritten-over, you probably won't be able to use what you recover.
