Ad-blocking in Opera

Does anyone know of a way to block ads without having to manually block ads/images from every site through content-blocking??

Like we have adblock-plus for FF.Is there any extension/software which comes with some pre-defined filters for opera.

 

There is or was OperaAdFilter. I'm not sure what happened to the old site it was on, but you can still download v1.01 here:

I haven't tried it with Opera 9, but I am assuming it would work. Worked fine with 8.x...

 

Unfortunately, adblocking in Opera is still rather primitive. Notice that there is no White List either. Hopefully the Opera folks will add to the usability of their new adblocker as time goes on. For the time being it is too rough and painful to use for my tastes so I use Ad Muncher for Opera, and the AdBlocker Extension for Firefox. Hopefully the Opera folks will study Firefox and see how the FF Ablocker folks implemented it.

u can also try proxomitron and use jp10058's mod of Grypens filterset. theyre modified for Opera use.

 

you can use Proxomitron or Privoxy which are both set and forget. i'm fairly certain you can use the firefox adblock filters in Privoxy. you can use a hosts file too

AdMuncher is the best I've found for Opera and in general.

Ive had admuncher for more than a year now 14 months., even trying out their beta releases. nothing comes close to admuncher imo.

 

i forgot about the adblocking css files. here's a link to one -

save it as AdBlocker.css and put in somewhere like opera/my_css or do Tools>Preferences>Content>Style Options>then in the display tab there might be a path showing where opera keeps its css files; you can put it there.

then select it to use it. you have to make sure My style sheet in the Presentation modes is selected and it's set to Author mode.

NOTE changing setting in Presentation mode/Author mode/User mode and making mistakes can make web pages look really bad. i played around with them in the past and it took awhile getting my old settings back
