    THAT IS HILARIOUS.

I'm sorry but it's just so...

I guess he's trying to prevent "viruses" like the flu or something from reaching the computer by an airtight hard disk. Haha.

To me it sounds like some 9th grade dropout trying to get some $ in his hands. He probably thought that someone would buy the patent considering that most people around him are not technically very sound. Poor fool seems to have forgotten that anyone who wants to buy such a patent will be at least decently technically acquainted with hard disk technology.

Yeah, turning off the platter where Windows is installed is definately going to work, that won't cause a blue screen or anything.....
Does this guy even have a remote clue as to how computers
    work??

What a moron. That was at least good for a laugh.

Patents are kinda expensive too, so he must be proud of whatever it is he thinks he has created.

I think it's easier to use DeepFreeze than this crap patent. Not to mention it's far cheaper... Or just select entire partition and tick "read-only" for everything. And remember kids, disconnected and shut down PC cannot be infected!:D :ninja:

I start trading with him, but I accidentally read the price starting from right to left so I offered him: 0,000,000,92 $. :D o_O :D :D
    I think is enough....What do you think? :p :D

    $ 0.92 is too much... :D :p :D

    ...but $ 0.29 is OK :D :D :D

Regardless of the technical aspects, I would actually dispute his patent application on the basis of proir art - much of its "benefits" sounds like atributes already displayed by a bootable LiveCD. If it's not genuinely novel, regardles of whether it's feasible, an application shouldn't be granted. Further, he'll need to exemplify his "invention" (demonstrate a working prototype that fulfills the novel aspects of his initial application) to have a full patent granted and I suspect he'll have a hard time doing that :D

So, yes, I agree - $0.92 is too much :p

I don't know..., still looks very high to me. I'd say $0.01 and he covers postage sending the paperwork to me. That I could handle. :)

    Deep freeze? Airtight harddisk?

Wait, maybe I'm understanding this wrong, but this guy is talking about a seperate.. platter, which can be switched on and off. Somehow suspicious files get stored on the virus platter. I dunno how.

But I don't really care anyway XD

If I'd want this... thing, I'd want him to cover all the costs and of course, also give me $10 :) Sounds reasonable to me.

... Edit: Or actually, €10 would be better.

It's dumb in every aspect imagineable. And how will a magnetized plater know what's malicious and what isn't? How would it decide what to permanently store as safe file and what to discharge? If i'd made this crap i'd use separate flash RAM anyway (like a L2 cache) instead dedicated plater.
But still useless and stupid no matter how you turn it.
