    Hi all,

I've just tried to update my virus definitions for DrWeb 4.29c and it comes up a message (attached screenshot). I then downloaded the 4.30 from their FTP site, but it only appears to be valid until 30th August even though my licence runs until November.

What is the point in this version if it is only valid for 15 or so days?

In the mean time I can't update my definitions!?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Chris.

Can you check if there are two *.key files in the DrWeb folder?

I tried to overwrite the key that came with 4.30 with my key valid until November, but it still said it was a free trial version!?

I understand that, but how am I supposed to be able to keep my virus definitions up to date as it's informing me my version is out of date?

Then, when I install the latest version, it only lasts for 15 days?

I do agree IMHO something went wrong here. IMO this sort of "special offer" should not have been connected with the usual update from already registered users.

I'll contact DS about this and will keep you posted (it's weekend in the meanwhile, so it could take some days).

FYI: Dr.Web is installed on this test system as well - but updates are done manually from the Dr.Web site. Problem circumvented.

    regards.

Boris Sharov replied even faster as usual - and that's pretty fast on average:

    Hi Paul,

We have just published the news on version 4.30 release and shall be sending e-mail information to our subscribers shortly.

I regret the things you have described happened with your clients - but I believe the information in the newsletter was clear enough not be confused.

However since you report cases of misunderstanding I believe we shall be able to cooperate with you to minimize the damage caused by 15-days version
downloads. If you could supply a list of clients who may have overwritten their license key with their purchase dates we could reissue their keys.

To read the information on the new version please visit our site www.antivir.ru/english/

    Best regards.

    DialogueScience, Inc.

We will provide DialogueScience with a list of course - coming from emails to our support address support@wilders.org in the meanwhile.

Every registered Dr.Web user can drop us an email (ISP email address, real full name) subject line: "dr.web update" and we'll make sure DS will be informed and new licenses will be provided.

    regards,

    paul

    Hi Paul,

Do you know what the latest on this is, as I don't really want to run my system with out of date virus definitions, especially with the amount of virus's on the prowl at the moment!!

I notice they appear to have changed their site and have a full version of 4.30 on there, should I download this?

Actually, do you know if the auto update should download this update?

    Thanks,

    Chris.

PS. Sorry for my inpatience, but I like to be up to date on all my files, especially virus definition!

All I do know is, emails received concerning this issue hve been reported to DialogueScience; it's up to them to react to their customers.

There's one] possibility for this I can come up with:

You are using a (still) valid registration key, but the yearly subscription has expired. If this is the case, one can renew the subscription over on Dr.Web website coming with a 30% discount.

I would recommend using the support ticket system:

    www.dials.ru/english/support/

Personally, I've saved the registration key and specs, removed the previous version from this system, downloaded and installed the new version 4.30. Imported the stashed license key after that, and rebooted.

I would recommend using the support ticket system first, in order to solve your key/subscription problems.

In your case it will not, due to a (possible) key/subscription issue. Other then that: I actually don't now, since I've used the uninstall - new install method.

    Sounds reasonable to me ;)

    regards.

    Hi Paul,

Ok, that's fine. I'll try to sit tight. :)

Just for future reference, where can I get this 30% discount as my renewal is due in a couple of months? o_O

My registration and subscription are still valid and should be until mid November. Just out of interest, what's the difference between 'registration' and 'subscription'? o_O

That sounds like a good idea, as I still have my original keys. Having said that, I have two!? One appears to be a .key file on it's own and another that is in an small install file. Any idea why I have two? o_O

I'll contact them with my issues also. Thanks for the link! ;)

Thanks again Paul and speak soon!

    Chris.

    Hi Chris,

It's on their site. Here's the direct link:

    http://esd.element5.com/product.html?productid=507463

Subscription allows (yearly) database updates - the registration makes sure the software won't expire/stop working until the valid period is over.

It is a zipped archive with a special extension - .dwz. After installing your copy of Doctor Web for Windows 95-XP (before rebooting your system), one has to click on the attachement with the left button of the mouse. It
will be automatically installed in the right directory - the same one Doctor Web is installed. After doing so, you'll have that second (now unpacked and installed) reg key.

Good idea, since youve mentioned bot key and subscription are still valid.

    Keep us posted ;)

    regards.

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything yet? I've not.

I also contacted them via their support page on the 19th and haven't heard anything back from that either.

Ok, I've received assistance regarding my key problems, but I now have a new problem. :(

Since installing 4.30, I've been unable to run spIDer guard. Whenever I load it, my system crashes due to some sort of conflict!? I don't have any other AV programs on my machine, so am wondering what is causing the problem. I've tried both overwriting 4.29c and a full uninstall and re-install, but no luck.

Did anyone else have any problems updating/upgrading?

I'm now back to 4.29c complete with spIDer as it's my last working configuration.

    Can anyone help?

Thanks for your patience and assistance!,

    Chris.

    Hi Chris,

Good to hear your key problems have been solved.

As for your new problem: seems system-related, since I do not know of suchalike reports.

Please contact DialogueScience once more, explain your problem and attach a copy from DrWeb.ini to your email.

    regards.

    paul
