TI Citrix Mapping and -FDSP switch

Hello, Does True Image support mapped drives on a citrix server drive that is reminaged?

If my drives are M: and N: before the image will they be M: N: after the restore or will it reset to C: and D:

We use Ghost with the -FDSP switch to preserve the drive mappings when you ghost a citrix box and that keeps the drives at M: N:

Does True Image support have a switch or can keep the drive mappings the same way when they were imaged like ghost?

I'm afraid that none of the currently available Acronis True Image versions supports imaging of a mapped drives.

Acronis True Image 9.0 allows you to backup the local hard drives only.

I have the same question. I think there is a missunderstanding. Drive M,N are local drives. Citrix names it "mapped" but it is renamed : C becomes M, D becomes N ....
That means that the Systemdrive is now drive M and C doesn't exist anymore. The problem is that TI images these drives (Disk 0 = M,N...) but after a restore the system is not running. Does TI 9.0 support a System with renamed drives ?

I am looking for a imaging software which does this. An older Ghost Version had a switch -FDSP to solve this problem but I would like to change to Acronis.

I'm really sorry for misleading you with my previous reply. I've misunderstood the initial question because I was not aware about the specifics of Citrix server drive mapping.

I've consulted with the respective person from our Development Team regarding this issue and he assured me that at the moment the only way to preserve the original drive mapping is disk cloning.

If you want to back up your Citrix server you can use workarounds described in this document allowing one to re-assign the correct drive letters.

Please take a look at this FAQ article explaining the difference between Clone Disk and Backup approaches in more details.

The problem you experienced is related to some Windows peculiarities and caused by the fact that drive letters are automatically changed upon the restored Windows first boot. Usually it happens because of the changes in hard disk geometry. Whatever the case, our Development Team is currently working on the universal drive remapper which will allow getting around this issue.

We recommend that you use Acronis True Image 9.1 Server for Windows to back up your sever.

If you are interested in the ability to back up\recover servers remotely, we recommend using Acronis True Image 9.1 Enterprise Server for your purposes.
