Recovery CD

hi I need help to create a Recovery CD with Acronis True Image Home 9.

1. I have sucessfully installed Acronis True Image 9

2. My PC has 2 physical hard drives (C, 80-gig and D, 80-gig) and 2 Cd burners (E and F).

3. My Purpose is to create a Recovery CD just like how PC maker used to include a Recovery CD when u first purchased the machine so that when u decide to reformat the boot up drive (in my case C drive), it will automatially reformated the C drive, install windows operating system (Windows XP in my case), the desired software, drivers, etc.

4. I have used the Backup option (not sure if I m doing it right) to create a backup of C drive to D drive with a file name called MYBACKUP (about 3 gig)

Questions:

5. My question is this: how do I use this file MYBACKUP in the D drive to reformat C drive , install Windows Xp, software etc?

6. Since MYBACKUP file is more than 3 gig, can I burn a copy of the MYBACKUP file and use it as so-called Recovery CD whenever I need to reformat my C drive for whatever reason ?

You are basically done.

Create a recovery boot disk from inside Acronis.
Boot to this disk and make sure you can see your backup.tib file on your D: drive, so if you need to restore your C: drive the way it was when the image was created, you can use the backup.tib to do it.

 

The short answer is NO. Your Recovery CD will not include your MYBACKUP.tib file. The Acronis Rescue Media recovery CD should include the items I have ticked in this screenshot:

Your recovery CD will run in a Linux environment independent of Windows. You can run it either in the Full version or in the Safe version. This will allow you to access you MYBACKUP.tib file in order to restore your system.

Please be aware that the latest build (3677) of Acronis True Image 9.0 Home allows saving backups to DVD adding the additional Media Components such as Acronis One-Click Restore or standalone version of Acronis True Image 9.0 Home. In such a way you will have Bootable Rescue Media and the backup on the same DVD.

If you cannot save your backup to DVD for some reason, we recommend creating Bootable Rescue Media on CD in the way described by dld. In case of a system crash, you will have to boot your computer from this Bootable Rescue CD and restore the beforehand created backup. You can save your backups to any storage devices supported by Acronis True Image 9.0 Home such as external, internal and networked hard drives, CD, DVD, ZIP drive, etc.
