I am using the full version of PG 3.150 Plus Avast Home 4.7...Latest Version & Look n Stop 2.5SP2(WinXPSP2) All the boxes are ticked on PG except learning mode & Block new & changed applications. I have started to get a lot of pop ups with Avast home at update time, typically I have to approve (say) Avast setup to start, then on another update (virus defs) Avast setup 01, then on another setup Avast setup 02 and so on. So in effect I am approving each update as it occurs. It did not used to be like this. PG was as quiet as a mouse. Do any other users of Avast have this experience? Whats the cause? How do I stop or restrict it Many Thanks Terry
Hello TerryWood, I have the same firewall as you,and also the same AV and PG V3.150 and you are correct, something has changed in there updating and LnS also picked this program change and also asked the same question."Do you want to allow the change?" It's been a few day's and got one update, but this time no questions asked,by PG or LnS.I think that there are iAVS updates for virus def's and a second for program updates which seem to trigger these events by Process Guard & LnS. I no longer get these pop-ups,but like yourself,I also had a few day's of PG & LnS alerts that would not stop! But all seems back to normal, virus updated today with no alerts. You should have about 7 or more entries in process guard and you should have no problems. If you still have problems with pop-ups put PG in learning mode, reboot and you should catch every process by Avast and try a program update also, with PG in learning mode. Good luck
Do you have Avast set to update the program automatically as there have been a couple of program updates fairly recently which would have caused PG to ask permisions again, but it shouldn't be asking for every virus defs update. And Kush is correct, you will get about 7 PG pop ups when Avast itself is updated. I must admit I'm using PG 3.410 and Avast Home but have been using both through many versions and not run into that problem. This is probably a silly question but are you sure you have all the Avast components set to 'Permit Always' in PG, I know it's obvious but sometimes it's the most obvious things we miss _ or at least I do.
