AOL Active virus Shield(KAV 6.0) FREE!!!!!

Might be against the EULA?

 

Not if you know how to do it. Skin is skin. You just don't have official support for them. So if you don't know how to do it you're out of luck. Besides it's not that bad (main GUI skin). I wouldn't really bother just because of AOL logo...

 

Well, Kaspersky's FAQ entry on Active Virus Shield does mention "offers users the flexibility to change the application skins and customize its look and feel".

The normal KAV6 skin change option appears to be missing from AVS's prefs screen, though. And what kinda raises my eyebrow is that I can't move/copy/edit the default skin's PNG files, even after unloading AVS. I might play around with it later & see if I can find a way around that.

I have downloaded this software and have been using it without a hitch so far. Someone please tell me where I can find out what version this is. I cannot find the 'about' box anywhere? Maybe I am looking to hard and it is right in my face. Pleae help!!!

 

I have started useing kav but have noticed a massive slowdown when downloading useing bitcomet.This started at the same time as i switched.Downloads are at the same speeds,but computer just doesnt respond untill the download finishes.Cant even use the mouse without a 10 second delay.Can these be relaited,because this has only happened since i switched antivirus.

 

Try uTorrent (microtorrent). It's way better and more resource friendly plus it worked great with AOL KAV... All other torrent clients are just plain fat and are acting like pigs...

 

Uninstalled sygate and things are back to normal.Been useing sygate firewall and bitcomet for a long time ,so why this happened i dont know.

 

Some Sygate versions are for some reason not compatible with Kaspersky 6.0, it's a bit starnge, some users can use this combo without issue's and others cannot get on the net whatever they try, it must be driver related and since Sygate is not sold/developed anymore, it will probably not be fixed.

 

Sooner change firewall than kav.

 

I am wondering if any of you has received more spam mail then before using that email address you registered?

Sorry to be blunt but AOL is at the bottom of my list for company trust.

 

Picked up my first ever trijan by email.Kav warned me,but if i scanned email with kav it said clean,however if i tried to send it to report it ,it warned of virus.The email was a fake paypal warning, about unusual activity on my account with a false link ,where it askes you to fill out account details.Just strange kav reported it but not if i did a mail scan.

 

I don't get any more spam than usual. Besides, more spam i eat, the more is blocked in the future. So i don't care much

Should be version 6.0.0.303 (although the program itselfs states v.6.0.0.299). If you received a question to reboot after update, I'm pretty sure you have version 303.

BTW, for best performance I should use "Programs and documents by content" or "programs and documents by extension"?

I would use the "Scan new & changed files only and "By content". After you have done an on-demand scan (which should be either with "recommended" or "high" settings in "Scan my computer", you should begin to see an improved performance in general over the next days.

The GUI says it's version 299, but the files insides suggests it's 303, so not an old version

So how do i upgrade to 303 version.

I don't remember properly but I think you'll get your answer by checking the
version of avpgui.ppl or the GUI logic file. When KAV6 was upgraded to 303,
only some of the components were needed to be updated. AVP.EXE version
is 299 alongwith most of the files, its normal.

Avast has a lot of protection modules but KAV is just better, right?
