I have a registered version of LnS on my desktop computer. When I open the Application Filtering tab, on the right-hand side of the window, in the Application Name column, the first 12 lines just show a folder icon with a question mark (?) next to it. In other words, I have no indication of what these 12 applications are. Some of them are blocked, and some are authorized to connect to the internet. There is nothing else listed in the Application Path column, either. Is this the way it's supposed to look? If not, is there something I need to do to have the application names be listed for these 12 items? Thanks very much in advance for any advice regarding this.
Hello It could be a few things, but please try this patch first it should fix your App. problem. If not please post again. Patch: http://looknstop.soft4ever.com/Tools/LnSRegPatch.exe and reboot. KuSh If you are getting alerts from software connecting? Does it ask you for allowing the app or not? To connect? It can just be programs your have installed, and the exe. file was just the set-up file and can be deleted, and anything else you have uninstalled will have a question mark?,until the app filtering is reached it will not delete it self.(approx 100) it will auto clean. All those Apps. So you can do it yourself if you don't want to wait until your reaching the 100 mark for self cleaning. If you are getting alerts from App filtering? If so, just delete the blank ones from app filtering, but if your not getting any alerts? The patch above should fix your problem.
Kush, Thank you very much for your response. I ran the patch, rebooted, and the unknown folder icons are still there. I think the simplest thing to do, as I believe you are suggesting, is to just remove these unknown entries. I have not been getting any alerts from LnS for any of these, that I know of. It could very well be that they are for applications that are no longer on my computer, and I just never noticed these icons. If any of them still are necessary, I'm sure LnS would then ask me again what to do when it encounters them next time. Thank you so much for steering me in the right direction. I appreciate the help. If, by some chance, following this approach results in any problems, I'll re-post.
Hello cdr, Your welcome,Sorry I was not sure at the time?,if you where getting any App alerts?,the patch fixes these types of errors does nothing for these blank apps left over Apps. But it was just invalid apps no longer on your computer. Yes you are correct! You can delete anything in App filtering and it will ask you again and the manual clean-up is the fastest!Way to clean-up!App Filtering. (Auto clean-up by LnS starts near the 128 mark from the links below) You can check these links out if you like,to learn more about app filtering limits & when to use the patch when app filtering stops working.Really no need since you understand it now,but just encase you need more info, good luck https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=732848#post732848 (app limits) https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=428983#post42898 (app info, limits) https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=705537#post705537 (when to use the patch) Regards KuSh
