NOD32 v3 features

I am not an ESET guy , but as stated many times by ESET Moderators (such as mr. A.Goretsky) when it is ready and when there is something to be said , it will be said first here . Don't worry and don't hurry so much . We want qualitive product no matter when it will be ready . The current 2.51 is great

 

Eset better be adding some good stuff to this suite, other than stuff that is easily accessible from any other suite. Just an AV, spam filter, and firewall isnt going to grab new customers. I am not a current NOD32 user.
I use Norton IS 2006, not because I didn't like NOD32 ( I was very well impressed ), but because I was looking not for an AV but a AV+firewall combination.
Will NOD32 IS 3.0, be fully integrated in Mozilla firefox/thunderbird??

Sure . Not only v.3 but also the current .
You have heard something wrong , the current version(v.2.51) is fully integrated .

 

It's hard to moderate posts if he doesn't understand the language.
Although nothing is said about the language during registration, it's common sense.

I agree and that goes for most of the "AVs" that are attempting to keep reputations as light but effective Malware killer.

 

But the idea of having your own spam filter means you can block emails by keywords, such as swearing, or release emails that have been mistaken as spam. Hopefully though NOD32 v3.0 won't produce any false positives, as it has already proven with its' anti-virus engine.

 

SPAM is not a security threat and it cannot harm the computer . I also don't want spam filter , my M-ISP (Google) is brilliant in this job

Or you are juste refering to gmail service ?

I phoned ESET yesterday to ask about v3. It seems they're unsure if a beta will be released at the moment, but they confirmed that v3 would be released in the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year.

 

v3 delayed again?

Hi guys,

I've been lurking for a while now but this is my first post I was speaking with a member of ESET's tech support this week, and asked about v3 in passing. The first response was:

After more back-and-forth, and a few questions etc, it became:

From what I had read, beta was due out this summer, then autumn (=fall), and now the end of this year/early next year. Unless I misunderstood and the initial dates refer to beta, and the "end/turn of the year" comments refer to the stable release?

Anyway, was interested to see IMON will be non-winsock based. I have a 2yr licence currently and had emailed tech support after NOD let a trojan downloader through. Before I get flamed, NOD is the best kit around today but it IS possible after all for the odd one to slip through - in tech support's own words the sig for the one I got (a zlob variant) wasn't added til the day after I was caught out, and AH missed it unfortunately.

I didn't have Blackspear's settings in use at the time (I do now!!). Now I am back up and running with NOD32 a la Blackspear, SuperAntiSpyware Pro realtime (nice bit of kit) and ZoneAlarm Pro with process watch/os firewall. ZAP is ok, but slows me down quite a lot. Roll on a decent firewall from ESET

Well, perhaps they will delay the launching of NOD32 v 3.0 but hope when it will be ready it will be worth waiting.

From what I've seen in some betas of v3.0 they have many more to improve/implement so with a bit of luck in November/december we'll see it. (I personally hope it will be faster but who knows...)

I would guess Nod is between a bit of a rock and a hard place. Not only do they seem to be doing a major re-write of the program, changing IMON, creating a total suite. They now have Vista compatibility issues to worry about. My .02

I still think Vista will have to be finalised before anybody can be truely compatible with it, although I did see an interesting transcript of a Security Now episode called 'Vista's Virgin Stack'

They mention the timeframe expected for Vista to be finalised (gold masters stamped) for initial release, which according to them will be relatively soon considering they're still making changes to re-fix things already repaired back in Windows 95!
I wouldn't be surprised if the first updates are available pre-release
Still, depending on how an application is intended to interface with the OS this may not present an issue anyway

Total agreement. It is just getting the average user to understand the complexitys involved that may\will be the problem. I would not want to be a member of Eset Customer Support at this time.....or for a bit of time into the future.

hmmmmm.....you seem to have a bit of a warped sense of humor I like that in a person.

 

I have 175 days left on my Za Security Suite. I am hoping for a stable NOD firewall soon. ZA upgrades are killing us.

 

i dont think it will be out in time for when i would want it.

so it might be off my list for now sorta

 

You can also expect some beautiful D) improvements to the NOD32 scan engine with the release of v3

 

i heard that nod32 v3 will be released on Q1 next year
