Available for download at Softpedia. It's presented as a non-beta release. I assume that the Pro version is tucked inside as usual. No mention of it at all on Zone Lab's site. Just a heads up for those that care! :D

ZA (free) 6.5.731.000 is only available as its the only version of ZA that has been updated. And only issues in the free version were fixed according to the moderator (the most critical problem fixed was probably the HOSTS file problem that was accidentally turned on in the free version with their lack of OSFirewall):

    Hi guys!

I am interested in installing this free version of ZA to my wife's laptop. The machine is behind a router firewall. My wife is an unexperienced user and prefers some simple and easy.

What is your opinion about that product?
Is there any other better choice?

    Thank's!

Hi Green Dragon. I am very close to installing Zone Alarm Free myself, but the only thing that is holding me back is Zone Alarms own Forums. There still seems to be a few issues even with new version. I did however talk to some people in other forums as well as this one, and am much more at ease with installing Zone Alarm Free than I was before. I am currently using, and happy with the last free version of the Kerio Firewall which is 4.2.2 listed on filehippo.com (This is not the one on Sunbelt's site with 30 day free trial) It is a little more complicated I believe than Zone Alarm Free, but only if you change a few settings after installing it in the Simple Mode so it can detect outbound programs like Zone Alarm does. However it may offer better protection with these changes than Zone Alarm Free. The changes I'm talking about are simple, and I can tell you about them later. For now I rather wait until some other people, who are more familiar than myself with these firewalls weigh in with their experience first. Hope I helped a little bit though.

I've had a few problems with Zonealarm in the past, but for the most part, they've been pretty stable firewalls. This new version was a bit shaky, so I've reverted to 6.1. Which has always been stable on my system.

As for something easy to use, ZA is probably THE most easy to use. Point, click, allow or deny. If you started the program, allow. If you haven't, deny. But you should try it out first. And if you do install it let your wife know what it does and how to use it.

Tried to update to new ver. from dsktop. Got mess that it was not a valid Win 32 application. Still have 6.5.722.000 installed. Went to ZA forum...seems to be an issue.
