I got no notice about this. Tray icon was blue. I just happened to hover the mouse over the icon and it said that PG was initializing...huh? So, I brought it up and it said that the driver was missing. I don't know how that happened. Bringing it up froze the screen, froze Windows. Sigh. I had to call Task Manager and force a shutdown. This meant that I lost 31 tabs in Fx that I could not tell Tabbed Browser Extensions to save before closing Fx. And I lost all the work I was doing in MS Digital Image in making an album and collage. But what really concerns me was that I got no notice that PG was not running properly! Plus, what would cause the driver to be missing? I assume I need to uninstall it and reinstall it? After rebooting, the driver was still missing. So, I exited it.
Why is this forum so dead recently? I see other posts besides mine that get no answers from other users much less Diamond CS. I rebooted four times last night and on the fourth reboot the driver was running again. I have never had the driver disappear like that. Since I got NO notice from PG that it was not running properly, now I feel compelled to check it frequently and I feel compelled to check it each time I reboot. I shouldn't need to do that. I should get a notice when the driver doesn't load! ....Geez...
i'm pretty sure that the new PG has an alternate balloontip (to combat the global no balloontips registry setting) and a black icon for initialization problem ... so the need of going into the GUI to see what's going on has been reduced. i think the standard balllontip is probably the best you're gonna get (or not as the case seems to be) with 3.15 as DiamondCS are prolly gonna want you to upgrade (as that problem has been 'dealt with'). but, you have a perfectly valid reason for not wanting to install that just yet .
