Why do you think it is false positive . Because one software doesn't detect it , it doesn't make it non-malicious . Please, submit this ^game trainers^ to VirusTotal and post the results

There's another great scanner looking at the top: Avira Antivir Personal Premium......with firewall, but Beta just now. I have not seen a scanner, so easy, so light and fast, with great features, for a very long time. Was crazy about Nod32, but this Antivir is gonna be mine as soon it is final.
Take a close look at it, trial it.......you won't be sorry!

    NOD32 is the best.

    Bitdefender has poor realtime protection.
Kaspersky never listen to their customers. (edit - Gratuitous bash removed - Blue)

    NOD32 rocks!

xpsunny, don't bash Kaspersky like that. They have good support also. ;)
and bit defender has good realtime protection most of the time, though I've noticed on some computers to miss some malwares on-access even if the realtime protection as set properly.

That was weak, this is how the KAV/NOD arguments start.

I use both AV's and I have never had a problem at either forum when I need a question answered.

    To all:

If you wish to debate the factual performance of Kaspersky vs. NOD32, be my guest. However, additional gratuitous bashing comments will be removed without further notice and may result in closure of this thread.

I use both as well. On different machines/boot partitions. If you know what you're doing you can likely get both to work on one machine, although not as realtime monitors at the same time - as is the case with most/all AV products.

Anyone knows a website that contains genuine comparision between nod32(best....best....best.....) and kaspersky internet security.
In terms of detection rate, scan speed, false positive,etc...

xpsunny, go to av-comparatives.org They've tested Kaspersky 5.0 but the detection are the same. ;)

    xpsunny,

To my knowledge, you won't find very detailed comparative assessments of scan speed. As a user of both products, on my machines, NOD32 still holds the lead in scan speed, but the margin has closed considerably with the release of KAV/KIS 6.0.

As for detection rate, see the demand and retrospective detection test results at av-comparatives.org. KAV leads in the On-Demand tests, NOD32 in the Retrospective tests. The latest detailed report from the Retrospective test (May 2006) does contain false positive and scan speed results. NOD32 and KAV are basically equal in false positives generated. The scanning speed of NOD32 was shown as close to twice that of KAV in that test (~7.49 vs. 3.55 MB/sec), which in my experience is about right for the KAV version 5 branch (the current commercial release at the time of the test). However, as I note above, that gap has closed considerably with the version 6 branch of KAV/KIS. The difference is a small fraction of that currently.

for the right-click scanning (context menu scanning), you have the option to not scan the memory first, which certainly does slow things down if you just want to scan 1 file. i can't remember if this is set by default or no, but I don't have NOD32 scan the memory in the context menu profile as I don't think it's necessary for this type of scan.

This is not REALLY a false positive. Some trojans used this component as well, it's basically so called "Grey-Ware". If you really need such trainers which are using this component just exclude them from scanning. Same as for "Protected Password View" which was used by numerous of Dumaru Worms 3 years ago to gain access to outlook passwords for sending emails.

But i do :D You should not be suprised that NOD doesn't detect it's own quarantine file (and others also not) you have to restore it and to send the original because NOD32 quarantine files are manipulated that you cannot start the malware anymore. :D

If you don't scan memory first isn't there is the possibility that NOD32 is being lied to when it checks the file system? Can the file open and read calls that AV use be intercepted by code in memory? I'd assume they could although kernel integration should make this more difficult.

    I run NOD32 on my laptops .

I also have old Win 2k Pro PC which is used for tests . I recently installed KIS6 on this test machine and I will again say that Kaspersky's performance on all machines I have ever seen remains awful . I just just don't understand why people like it o_O Really strange

p.s. I don't want to start a war between NOD32's and KAV's fans . The words above are just facts ;)

Fact; you are a NOD Reseller.

So like some, not all, of these breed you continuously knock down the opposition.

Your constant bashing of KAV in nearly every other one of your posts gets a little tiresome at times :thumbd:

Have you ever thought of teaming up with xpsunny? :p
