What would be the reasons to keep software like RegRun Gold these days? For the reg protection, startup analyzer, etc. Why would you keep it?

what do u mean? are u thinking theres better alternatives or u dont see its use?

i liked regrun because it provided some script protection and it monitored select system files for changes. also all changes for services or startup entries appeared in one box, so i can just allow them all at once.

i now dont use it anymore because i prefer to just have one HIPS/registry program.

Thats exactly what I mean WSFuser, with security software these days offering more registry protection and more of HIPS like protection, why run regrun besides it? I see you removed too, I might do the same. I am running spyware terminator right now, pretty good protection on startup entries.

    These days i'm using,

    Outpost Firewall Pro 3.5
    NOD32 2.5
    Webroot Spysweeper 5.0.5

I don't like to bog my computer down with too many apps and i'm happy with this current setup which seems to run very light with no problems.

    AV: NOD32
Firefox has Adblock and customized cookie rules
Spybot and Adaware never find anything but i run them once a month or so anyways

I was right, it didn't last long. KIS still very loud in my view. Too much pop-ups from the firewall. System is a bit slower with it on. Another temporary change to my main lineup and will add back Online Armor Standard or AV+ when server is back up on my side.

Hey racketeer66, did you know that Nod32 2.51.30 is out already? Noticed you still said you use 2.51.26 and thought you would like to know.

Well WSFuser, I did trim it down a lot. If you remember I had asked you what was the use of Regrun, well I thought there was no use for it but a slowdown startup and shutdown. Socketshield was just there cause I had a free 90 day trial key, but it was down to 20 days and thought to myself, it has not caught anything, why run a program that uses 15 MB of memory. Anyways, F-Secure is great so far and the free key helps! I posted earlier in the other thread I started that it is running smoothly compared to Kav 2006 and someone else agreed. F-Secure is not that bad on resources on my side. Yet again, I am coming from using Online Armor AV+ that used two processes of virus scanning that idle at about 17 MB each. Prevx1 is actually the highest right now with PXAgent.exe at 54 MB. I will probably remove Spyware Terminator as F-Secure has Ad-aware engine built in, not that great, but it will do. If this setup with F-Secure works, I will keep F-Secure, add Online Armor Standard for HIPS, and still test out Online Armor AV+ on my laptop. I am not giving up on Online Armor, so when the main suite comes out with the integrated firewall and the program is full blown, I will probably switch back.

By the way, I noticed you got prevx1 a while back on your list. Here goes a question for you, how do you like prevx1?

Cool! I just saw those links. I don't use Nod32 anymore, so I wasn't sure, but did noticed the new version and thought I would mention it just in case. No harm done double checking.
