    Hi Slovak,

I was a long time user of PestPatrol, its a good program, but be prepared for many FP's. Also I found it quite difficult to get them to acknowledge & address the FP's. Once in awhile they would address the FP only to have the same FP come back later. I dumped PP & went with SpySweeper I'm very happy with that decision.

    Take Care

If you are able to get pest patrol for free every now and then it will pick up something that isn't a false postive. But not worth spending any money on IMO
    Free Pest Patrol here...

    Hello,
I know you're an Opera user - at one time did Pest Patrol detect Opera as malware. And the uninstall did not go cleanly. And lots and lots of FPs - to be frank, only FPs.
    Not my choice of software.

Does anyone know if CA's PestPatrol allows one to download the update files for installation offline, as was the once case with PP ver. 5 from the old PP site. If so, then please post CA's files download link. This one year free offer from CA is ver. 5. If you try to update this version using the updater, then most of the update ends up in IE's temporary internet files. And I love false positives -- they make life [FILL IN YOUR OWN ENDING].

I bought it and had it for about five months, I have now consigned it to the bin, too many false positives.

Another one chalked up to experience:rolleyes:

I used PestPatrol too for awhile and it considered the safe Bazooka scanner as a threat  and then I heard from other members at SWI that PestPatrol was known for its many f/p's.
Since I use Firefox with Adblock and NoScript, all these AS scanners, like Ad-Aware/Spybot/... even ZeroSpyware, don't report anything anymore.
Frankly, ZoneAlarm Free protects me against alot more threats, when I read its log.
No need to tell, I ditched PestPatrol.

    NO, :thumbd:
This are my suggestions: :) :)
    Ewido 4.0.0.172
    Superantispyware
Both are good choices, ewido is better detecting trojans and SA in other spyware. :D

    The Minority Opinion Checking in...

I use PestPatrol and I like it.

It periodically has found things that got past McAfee, Ewido, Ad-Aware Plus.... and other products.

    PP updates daily.

I have had two FPs in about 8 months of use.

I get it free based on my employer.....and if that were not the case, I admit I would probably not buy it.

But at the price I pay, I like it.

Used version 4 for about 3 years. Always liked the fact that it covers a wider range of malware than any other application(IMO). But the FP's made it difficult to use. Always have to submit my detected files to 'other' sources for a second opinion(if they weren't obvious) and in most cases they were FP's. I haven't used it for over a year now, and certainly won't be using the CA version which is so 'dumbed down' it isn't even worth the effort.

Doesn't Netscape 8.0 have Pest Patrol as part of its security set up?
