nod32 and third party antispyware

I am a very very happy user of nod32.
From various forums I gather that it is better to have antispyware installed in addition to av.
Is it true to nod32 also ?
I had recently downloaded the ewido antispyware which detected a few tracking cookies(explanation showed they were not very harmful) which naturally nod32 did not detect.
I would expect the learned in this forum to comment.

 

i dont rele use antispyware. i run ewido's online scanner as a backup scan, but i feel nod32 realtime is sufficient for my needs.

 

Cookies are not real threats and that's why NOD32 don't detect them .
It is true that it is good to have av+ as but in real time but this is not valid of NOD32 because it is perfect in spyware detection (note it has CheckMark for anti-spyware) . I run Ad-Aware se Personal (on-demand)for "second opinion" for non-viral malware but Ad-Aware has always been clean , NOD32 caught everything . Anyway , it depends on what you want , you can run any other application with NOD32

 

multilayer protection is recomended but i think nod32 is good enough to use standalone.

 

There is more to Antispyware than tracking cookies, especially for a person who visit a lot of websites, is involved with online buying, online banking and online gaming.

Now I trust you read reviews and hear of 'best of' products which one wishes to bundle for optimised security, that can be done but may cost system resources (often administrative conflicts) to an extent.

I have successfully bundled NOD 32 (highest settings) with Spyware Doctor 3.8 ( On Guard enabled), Spy Sweeper 4.5 ( shields disabled) as back up and Outpost Pro 3.51 (firewall but with antispyware plug in): All these in a Windows XP Pro (SP2) behind a router with NAT/SPI. Spyware Doctor (SD help) is allowed to modify process memory of the software firewall and evrything works fine.

 

I run four products, NOD32, Online Armor, First Defence ISR and Look n Stop for a firewall, however once NOD32 has its suite with a firewall, pretty sure I'll drop back to just three products.

I used to use NOD32 with Arovax Shield, but now I switched to Spyware Terminator that have more features, on its Shield, and is very low resources...

 

My regular protection is Nod32, Ewido & SpywareBlaster. I'm attached to a server & already have MS ISA Firewall & also a hardware firewall.

(SpywareBlaster dates from an earlier version of Ewido (v3.5) that did not block tracking cookies.)

 

I run only NOD32...

 

I cant wait till the nod32 new security suite. i will ge that to replace f-secure most likey.

 

I use SUPERAntiSpyware next to NOD32 and it's a cool combination. It can find things that NOD doesn't. And the other way around also, so a good combi.

 

After being hit by very nasty spyware a few times, I have installed Ewido 4.0 besides Nod32 and I find it a terrific combination. Nod32 detects a lot, but Ewido stops a lot in real time also.......just a great program!

Yes, in realtime through the Shield. It stopped several Trojan Downloaders already.

Right.....and Ewido makes use of this , so I don't understand Honeybunny's question and just think he doesn't have a clue himself!!!

 

Along side NOD32, I use CounterSpy, on demand only, and SpywareBlaster. The only reason I'm using CounterSpy now, is because I paid for it, so I have to use it.

 

I use NOD32 2.51.8 and Windows XP SP2 Firewall. Additionally running behind a hardware firewall w/ DoS Protection and SPI Filtering.

Running Windows Server 2003 (1 domain controller) and Windows XP SP2 (2 workstations).

 

I've found that Nod, Ewido (registered version 4.0) and Spywareblaster along with Firefox/Opera do wonders for keeping the crap down (when behind a router). Pretty much use this setup on all my residential customers that I deal with now. Haven't had an issue yet... and no return visits for more malware related BS.

Personally, my router and Nod are good enough to keep my desktop in tip top shape... but I'm a good boy.
