Great . What about HTTP scan or built-in IDS in F-prot ?

 

Hm...There is no mention about the HTTP scanner in this beta changelog. Haven't tried it yet.

 

I tried it . It worked great , it is really stable and I can find no problems . Impressive beta version , IMO

However , I would like to "see" Mike's opinion about IDS and/or HTTP scan in this version

 

Anyone see lower memory consumtion then last beta?

No, figures seem not to have changed here;


FPAVServer.exe- 13,112K VM, Peak memory at 18,288K.
FProtTray.exe- 1,844K VM, Peak memory at 5,500K.

Running on a WinXP SP2 setup.

Despite these figures being greater than the old F-Prot v.3, the RTM still seems very light, even on the default ALL file setting which includes archive scanning.

 

The HTTP Scanner and Email Scanner still are only for IE and Outlook?

 

Sorry , I didn't notice HTTP scan in F-prot during mu tests . I use only MS products such as Internet Explorer

What about the jump from 3.16f to ver. 6 when it goes final. Will it be a free upgrade to licensed users? My current subscription ran out yesterday and it seems everybody is beta testing new versions at the moment.

 

That's nice feature - automation. I have noticed this when F-Prot v6.0.4.0 automatically upgraded when I logged in my pc. It would be nice if F-Prot can give a notification window that this is happening or that it would occur. I remember it took some time on my 1.5ghz notebook to accomplish the upgrade.

The signature update is a lightning speed; quietly updating in the background.

Running this beta now and I am enjoying it a lot. Just a question, what antispy programs would you recommend I run to supplement this F-Prot 6 beta and thanks.

Under my testing envirnoment, F-PROT 6.0.4.1 beta runs in harmony with SpySweeper 5.0 Beta 3 with no problems.
