    Hi All,
I just purchased a 1 year subscription for NOD32. I just switched from ZoneAlarm Antivirus, as there have been some major problems getting DAT updates from them. I noticed in some of the posts in the NOD forums that some people have trouble receiving updates for NOD. (Sigh). Is this a frequent occurence, or just a time to time thing? Thanks very much for any reply!

Thanks for the welcome, and speedy reply!:)
I don't have any trouble at this time, just got a bit nervous after having a lot of trouble with my previous AV. I feel better knowing this issue doesn't happen too often! Thanks for easing my mind!

    KingKull,

I would like to point out that you may find the occasional "Update attempt failed (Server connection failure)" warning or "Error connecting to server xxx" diagnostic message in the event log. Often, this means that this particular server was busy.

Keep in mind, though, that NOD32 is configured by default to try connecting to several different update servers. After a failed attempt, NOD32 tries connecting to a different server. That connection is usually successful, but if there is no update, it does not show up in the log. This is a frequent source of confusion, because people see the failed first attempt, but not the successful second attempt.

Hope this eases your mind further.

    Hi alglove,
Thanks for your reply as well! So far, all has gone very well with NOD32. I haven't any problems since I installed it. As I mentioned earlier, I just got a bit nervous seeing there appeared to be similar issues as far as DAT updates were concerned. I feel very comfortable using NOD, as these occurences seem to be minor and very infrequent. Thank you again, I really appreciate your response!:D

Blackspear's suggestion is excellent . Don't forget to perform In-depth scan from time to time :D

    Hi Blackspear & HiTech_boy,
That's an excellent thread you pointed me to! I already ran an In Depth scan, and all was well. I haven't had the time to really get in and configure NOD32 yet, as we had a bit of flooding at home, and I'm trying to get dried out. I'll check it all out tonight, and fully configure. Thanks very much for your help. I appreciate your time taken to give me some pointers. I'm not new to computers by any means, but it can never hurt to get some guidance! Thanks again!:D
