Perusing the web and found this interesting site on darwin awards: http://www.ronpatrickstuff.com/ Though, I thought most states observed ordinances where a vehicle must have a red flag attached to anything beyond the bumper of a vehicle, nor can there be any permanent obstructions protrude beyond the bumper. Although a nice concept on a beetle.
In California, I believe that you are required to have a red flag on anything that protrudes more than 18" beyond the "factory" rear of the vehicle (which his engine DEFINITELY does). And if I remember correctly, 16" is the max. protrusion for any permanently affixed item. So who knows how he managed to get it street-legal!? Very impressive project! I wonder if his wife is going to be the one to ride that scooter?
