USB flash drives are DANGEROUS!!

This is a good story, hypothetical or not, but a bit disurbing.
Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

it assumes the trojans are already on the USB drives, so i guess a test of how easy it is to get trojans into USB drives during typical use would be a measure of the security apps installed on the PC it's plugged into.

related question: i don't hear much about jpg trojans. Does anyone know more about these and how well the AV companies can detect them?

If you read the whole story, it makes the point that the whole exercise/hypothetical relied on a type of "human exploit" and interaction to get access to machine systems.

 

thanks Longboard, i read about the jpeg exploit. so does it mean that updated XP machines are not vulnerable to jpeg exploit? 3

or are there other vulnerabilities in jpgs like when my friend emails me these endless pics of girls on motorcycles?
