They are very good! .... how did you get the girl to fit in the rear view mirror? Did you select the mirror area before and then pasted the girl's pic into the selection?

the TV animation is really well done! the screen overlaps the skull properly and the timing is perfect. I just checked it in Animation Shop and you have the time lapse set to 30 each.

Here's one I made to go with our space theme at Graphic Playground.
this is what I did....(the original was much bigger though)

1. I created the image in Bryce. Notice that it can be done in Paint Shop Pro by adding planet tubes to the background.

2. I opened the image in Paint Shop Pro. I added a white border, then I pasted it on a large transparent background and applied a drop shadow.

3. I converted the pic to a layer and duplicated it 3 times.

4. I changed the first picture (or first layer) to black and white with the grayscale mode.

5. I went to the second layer and played with the hue to change the colours
a little and made them a bit hotter than the first picture or layer. you can take a filter for that or go to your program menu and adjust the colours to your own liking.

6. I did not modify the last layer or the one on the top.
So all colours remained the same on that one.

then I used the transform tool to rotate each layer, one at a time.

I cropped the image and saved it as a . png

Hey all I hope everyone has been doing ok. Great work everyone, I will have to go back 4 or 5 pages to catch up, but I've always been way back there learning stuff anyway lol !

I am finally getting my Windows back up. I lost everything due to a virus and am having to reinstall everything, including PSP and all of the plugins I had before I am trying to get the visman (VM) filters back in PSP, but I am missing something.

When I install the VM sparkle into the plugins folder,,,, the sparkle option shows up in the flyoff menu when I click on effects/plugins/VM natural/sparkle, but when I click on it, this comes up (in the picture).
I think I am supposed to have a DLL file installed first I know I did it before but I cannot remember how in the heck I did it or where I am supposed to put the DLL file.

I looked back in this thread because I think I asked this once before, but couldn't find it.
Thanks and I'm sorry I seem so confused, and so disappointed in my computer for losing all my stuff lol I guess I will learn to backup my files and keep NOD32 up and running from now on , huh? lol

Hey Sonya, long time no see! this is sad what happened to your pc, it takes lots of time and patience to reinstall everything and to be able to get your PC environment similar to the one you had before. Fortunately, many of the filters you had can be found again whether by using Google or by going to PSP filters sites. I will give you a few addresses where you can download them but before, to answer your question, there are 5 different DLL files needed to run most filter/plugins/add ons with your graphics program and that they are NOT always installed or are not located in the proper folder for your operating system.

This time around I am having a hard time getting them to work, last time I think it was easier but it was so long ago, I can't remember, lol . I read all of the links you gave me and I know it's just me, normally I am good at stuff like this, lol
I tried both sytem folder and system 32, but I would remove them from the first folder before I tried the next.
I am pretty sure I am putting the DLL's in correctly.
I must be doing something wrong when I go to install the visman filters into the plugins folder, I have a default plugin folder in PSP.
Do you think there is something else that goes in with the viman? Like maby another plugin?
I am getting the same message in the above picture each time I try something different.
I'll keep working on it though

I finally got it Here is what was wrong. When I went to the regular visman website to download the entire collection of fiters, they would not work when I installed them.
So after 50 trys, lol I finally went to a different website to get just the VM Natural filter, and they installed just fine into my plugins folder Whew, that was tiring, lol

Hey, you're welcome Sonya! I am very glad to know that you were able to install the VM filter set. That was a good idea that you had to try to download them from a different site. Some of those filter packs can be outdated or old because they come from PSP or Photoshop sites that haven't been updated for years and they do not work properly on newer systems environment, like Windows XP for instance. Also, when you go to a site that offer filters, see if there is any date that tells when the site was last updated if not, once you downloaded a new filter (or DLL), right-click on it and choose ''properties'' from the window context menu, a window will open, see ''created'' and that will give you the date it was created and ''accessed'' the last date you accessed it yourself. Beware that sometimes, they do not show the date it was created but only the date or time you downloaded it or accessed it yourself. But when you have both options, ''created and accessed'' you can usually trust the dates given.

Thanks, I will do that from now on There's nothing like trying to install an old filter that's no good anymore
I downloaded alot of new filters today from a few links in this thread, alot more effects than I had before my computer crashed
I think I'll backup PSP somehow, with the filters I have installed so I don't chance losing them all again

QUESTION!

How do you install other filters (like 8bf) on to Photofiltre? I have read on the photofiltre forum that there is a way to use photoshop plugins like 8bf in photofiltre but it is in French and I don't understand the exact directions.

If I download various 8bf filters, where do I install them for photofiltre?

Also does optiklabs virtual photographer work on photofiltre?

Hi and welcome to the forum gwenlhaehl!

which version do you have?

You can install .8bf files in the Studio version but not in the Freeware version.
The Freeware version supports .pfl files as plugins only. However, the Studio one supports both, .pfl and .8bf files. I do not know which version you have now if you have the Studio version I can help you to install the .8bf files.

However I know there are more out there.. I'm just a frame junkie I guess you can say.. I love them.. everyone has just so many great ones. I'm looking for anyone that know's of any sites to download some or If anyone would be interested in sharing their collection of frames. Again.. I'm just an fan of PSP7 and of frames.. What kind of frames do you usually like, there is the "tubes" sort of variety, and then there is the (rather large in size) Frame image which you fit a picture to approach. AutoFX has tons and tons of frames, They used to have some for download, don't know if they still do...

Wow, You certainly mastered the Art of blending images with great ease Mish, it looks very professional to me! Well, thank you for the nice invitation but I'm afraid that it will be impossible for me to go, I will be heading to Canada soon and presently, I am making preparations for the trip. Also, I'm afraid that it will be too far and too expensive for me to go to a party that takes place in the U.K. Nevertheless, I appreciate your nice invitation, in fact, I am very honored to be invited to go to the same places that Prince Harry frequented in the past...

That's actually not a bad idea. It has just occurred to me that you possibly like manga style drawings. It always annoys me when people say they don't like manga because that implies that it is all the same. I like the cool looking type like how Tekken are drawn. Someday I will perfect my own manga drawing, I read about the first 5 pages of a how to draw manga book, and it was actually pretty cool. Finishing it is on my someday list. Take care!

I'm not really enjoying graphic design that much. I think that I'll be moving back to London mid next year to study music production. You only live once, and music being something that I really enjoy I want to get into the industry producing. So hopefully I'll get into the London Music School where Bohemian Rhapsody was recorded!! hrhrhrhr.

Anyway, that aside, if I have enough time I will get back on this forum tonight and go through some photo retouching and blending methods as I've used in the previous and present posts.

Blending multiple images to form a "trick" image
Part 1

I'll be performing this tutorial in 3 parts, so stay tuned

Introduction

A great way to perform mind-trickery on an unsuspecting audience, is to blend two totally different images together.. and make the result appear as if it was produced naturally.

This can be seen put to practice quite frequently in showbusiness, or the media industry.

Let's say for instance, an actor needs to be doing a particular stunt but it's too dangerous for them to do so. There may be a stunt double hired that looks very similar to the actor, or, the movie production team may use computer generated imagery to "mask" the stuntman's face with shots of the actor at similar angles.

Digital imagery as you all know, has become extremely powerful - and still continues to suprise people. We can make almost anything that is produced digitally appear naturally created.

I want to show you how I can change the appearance of one man so that he looks like myself, and to do this I'm going to start by showing you some edited images that I particularly like.

Choosing your images

When choosing multiple images to blend, it's always best to get the lighting more or less the same in both images from the start. This can be changed later to a certain degree, however it saves a lot of time and effort if the images have more or less the same intensity and angle of light (global light if you would).

I am going to blend two images together. Here are my choices:

Now... you are probably thinking "Yeah whatever.." but I assure you, it's simpler than it looks.

The first image is going to be my background image. Since this is the background image I will model the lighting for my face around the angle shown in this photo.

First steps

The first thing that I want to do, is position my face over the actor's. Open Adobe Photoshop and let's get started (version 7 or later is very much recommended).

Unfortunately for PC users, editing on photoshop can be a little more difficult to handle than if you were using a Mac. The interface is not as user friendly, and there are ways that I get around this.

When using multiple images I am going to want to flick back and forth from image to image, and with a small monitor this is difficult - especially when you are zoomed in to one image (you will probably have the image maximised for full detail).

To get more space to work from, maximise the main photoshop window by dragging the top corners to each corresponding corner of the screen. Now drag the bottom corners up to the same top corners of the screen. This is what your photoshop window should now look like:

Positioning and angling

Open the two images within photoshop.

Select my face as the active image and select all by pressing CTRL+A. Now copy the selection by pressing CTRL+C. Next, select the background image as the active image, and paste by pressing CTRL+V. The image of my face should now appear in the centre of the background image.

The head in the background is not facing the same way as mine, so what we're going to do is flip my face horizontally. Right click on the layer of my face, and select "Free Transform". Then right click again inside the free transform box, and select "Flip Horizontally". Both heads should now be facing left.

Now we want to position the my head directly ontop of Jamie Foxx's head, but this is going to be tough if we can't see his head. So what we do is we go to the layer menu, and we select my face layer, and we can pull the opacity down to about 50%. This way we can see when the heads align.

My head is also too large, so what we can do to scale it down, is right click on the layer, and select Free Transform again. Then whilst holding down SHIFT we can drag one of the corners into the image so that it gets smaller, but maintains it's aspect ratio.

Once you have more or less the same sized heads, press enter to save the current state of the layer, and select the movement tool from the toolbar on the left http://www.mishimasan.com/Personal/Photos/tutorial7.jpg.

We can't see further than the top of the image, but it would be nice to have some space above Jamie Foxx's head so that we can better manouver my face over his. So what we can do is press F once, to get the full screen editing view. This is brilliant because even if you zoom in past the borders of the background image, you can still navigate to see past the image, which allows for more room when editing.

Zoom in until you are comfortable with the ratio of space-detail, and drag my face layer ontop of Jamie's face. It won't be an exact fit, but what you can do is use the Free Transform tool until you have it at the right size and angle.

*good points to notice when laying images of faces ontop of each other are aligning the eyes and mouth

Once you have it laid perfectly it should look something like this:

With the opacity on 50% you might not be able to get a good idea of the actual positioning of my face, so try shifting back and forth from 50 - 100% now and again.

Congratulations! You've taken your first step to faking an image!

In part 2, I'm going to go through cropping and cutting the images so that the overlaying face doesn't have any extra baggage - so that it can fit absolutely perfect ready for touch-up!
