I installed spyware blaster and the ability to change my home page was disabled (even by myself) - It is fine. But I now installed Yahoo messenger and it did reset my home page to yahoo. Now I canot set my home page to my old one. How can I do it? I did uncheck "disable my internet options to set homepage" , restarted the computer - still I cant have this option. Pls help.

    Hi Arun,

Can you confirm the exact conditions you are seeing when you try to change your home page in IE? First, are you able to get to the "Internet Options..." panel from the IE tools menu? Or, is that completely inaccessible itself?

If you can get to the Internet Options, is it that the Home Page section is just grayed out, (see top half of image below), so you can't change it?

In SpywareBlaster, (see bottom half of image below), is the option that you "unchecked" to unlock your home page changes? When you restart and run SpywareBlaster again, does the check-mark come back or does it stay cleared once you've unchecked it?

I resolved the "problem" in around about way, but here is what happenned (dont know if this is "as designed")

Internet Options is visible in Tolls section of the browser, but when I click on it, I get a message that "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Contact systems administrator".

The items Diasable home page changes box in Misc IE settings tab (in spywareblaster's tools panel) remained "un"checked.

I was however able to go to my XP control panel - that is Start button /Control panel and then go to internet options and change the home page from there. When i tried to change, Spyware Blaster Alert came up asking for confirmation of change/or to undo the change.

Ah, that explains it. The locking of the Internet Options... menu item from within IE is not done by SpywareBlaster. There are a couple other tools though that have this capability. One of them is the Immunize screen in Spybot S&D. If you have Spybot, clear the option indictated in this image:

    And regarding this...

That sounds like either SpywareGuard or BrowserHijackBlaster which is doing that alerting. And you can allow the change, of course, from which ever of those tools you are using, so you should be all set now.

Let us know if there are any other concerns or problems.
