u have to create a HiJackThis log and then post it at one of several security sites (like SpywareInfo forums) for analysis. the experts there will then tell u if u need to delete any entries.

Yes, I use REG file to set up IE, and I have cookies blocked for trusted sites (https) as well.

I created it myself with the great help from Google. :)

I use my reg file to set up IE almost completelly and about 95 % of Windows settings.

Although, it has a little disadvantage, because IE thinks, that it is set to Block All Cookies, so I have to move the slider down to be able to enter Sites setting and remove cookie. But when I leave sites settings (by pressing OK), I will press Cancel and the cookie settings will stay.

Without education, you can't read and interprete HijackThis Logs properly.
SpywareInfo has an education center and most members have a hard time to learn HijackThis Logs.
Alot of other stuff needs to be studied, than just HijackThis logs. :)

    Hello,
Actually HJT is not that complicated, all in itself. The problem is when the user has several infections, intertangled. Besides, the best indication of an infection are not scan results or logs - but the pc behavior itself. If it starts behaving strangely, then something is wrong. You can just feel it.

All these qualified helpers at SWI, can't see or feel the victim's computers, when they are solving their problems and HJT logs aren't always telling the problem.

One wonders, if the HJT logs isn't telling the problems how do the qualified helpers detect what the problem is? By clairvoyance? I think HJT logs have to always be their starting point, to point them in the right direction.

I suppose the victim's can tell the qualified helpers about the symptoms though, slow computer, popups etc, but sometimes it is not malware related.
