I think I am missing something here.

    Is "SWIMS" the only answer?

    This was the original question
Puzzle: Can you find a five letter word, which, when typed in upper-case, reads the same upside down?

    A breakdown of the puzzle
Grandfather John has a son named Jack
Grandmother Ann has a daughter named Rita
Jack and Rita are married and have 2 sons and 2 daughters (2 brothers and 2 sisters)
These are the 4 grandchildren and with jack and rita = 6 children
The two mothers are Ann and Rita
The two fathers are John and Jack
The 3 sons are Jack and his 2 sons
The 3 daughters are Ann and her 2 daughters
John is the father in law of Rita
Ann is the mother in law of Jack
Rita is the daughter in law of John

as an addition Jack is the son in law of Ann

Till now I know about this answer only which satisfy the condition.

If you find another one... pls post.

    [the letters which may be useful for upside-down condition are : H, I, N, O, S, X, Z, (W,M) ... have a try]

OK,I think I have it now.

Flipping to the right or left puts the word upside down and back to front.

Write "CHIDE" on a bit of clear plastic and flip it backwards upside down.

Spells the same ,isn't back to front and is upside down!.

So do I get the coconut.LOL:D

Condition given is only for upside-down NOT back to front. Read the puzzle again.

[the word 'CHIDE' is not readable in upside-down condition]

The letters that I get that can be turned upside down at a glance are:

    C D E H I K O X

upside-down means: imagine you are standing at the top of the letter. Now, read the letter from there looking down, front side.

Upside down to me means to stand something on its head.

New List of letters that can stand on their head and still look the same.

    B C D E H I K O X-any more?

ya ... It will look the same because you are looking backside from the top.

It seems you do not read carefully ... I told you to look front side always.
Side will never change in upside-down condition.
    Is it clear now?

This is what is meant by upside down
write SWIMS in the top left hand corner of a page
turn the page round so that it is now in the bottom right hand corner and it still reads SWIMS

But doesn't the first S become the last S doing it that way, hence it is back to front!

You have turned the letters back to front and upside down!

Leave the letters in order and put them on their head without rolling them left or right.

In other words roll them on their heads backward or forwards.

This is getting technical but I'll stick to my guns and claim that SWIMS is wrong and has been wrong for a long time as I have recalled seeing the puzzle quite a while ago.

    1 am here.See you tomorrow.:)

ok, the technicality is whether u turn each letter upside-down individually or the the entire word upside-down.

maybe this should have been clarified in the puzzle.

find the number that if you divide by 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 or 10
you will always have 1 remaining but it will divide exactly by 11

Clue: it is above 18000 but below 28000

    25201 ?

    ------ edit
In the previous bridge crossing - I still think that the manager was the 5 and the best that could be hoped for was 19 :)

    Puzzle :

    A Proof That 2 = 1:

    1. X = Y let x=y
    2. X*X = XY multiply by x on both sides
    3. X*X - Y*Y = XY - Y*Y subtract y*y from both sides
    4. (X+Y)(X-Y) = Y(X-Y) factorise
    5. (X+Y) = Y divide by (x-y) on both sides
    6. Y+Y = Y replace x with y
    7. 2Y = Y factorise
    8. 2 = 1 divide by y on both sides

Where lies the flaw in the logic?
