sounds as if it had in house testing with out a beta release. Like the article stated it had been developed in stealth ( "The service, which has been under stealth development for more than 12 months, will debut this summer, and provide consumers with a choice of comprehensive protection service packages".)

Seeing that the package in general is aimed at simplicity, it would probably not be a product for enthusiasts.

Probably wouldn't be a product for those less then enthusiastic about their support.

Goody, goody! The beta is due in a couple of weeks and Falcon will work with Firefox!!! Opera also. The main reason I have avoided McAfee products for many years is that updating required IE and ActiveX. Evidently that is no longer the case. I want to try the beta on a virtual machine.I'm happy with KAV 2006 but have much curiosity so it should be fun trying this.

Problem with McAfee is that the registration thingy takes a lot of time for people with slower connections, AND McAfee does not offer free upgrades. AND, most rebates it provides are mail-in ones, which are not so friendly for people living outside the USA. :(

But to tell the truth, McAfee does make good products. They work well and are very user-friendly. Its just the licensing and purchasing thats a bit inconvenient.

My employer uses McAfee products and we are an extremely large entity in the province of Ontario Canada. I can't complain on how it functions at work as it seems to do the job quite well.

Those linked articles said Falcon was expected to have a beta in a few weeks. So, I went and re-registered (registered a long time ago under an old email address so had to do it again now) for the McAfee beta program. Falcon is not listed currently and the beta site says "There are no upcoming beta programs scheduled at this time". :( I see the Enterprise 8.5i beta there though. Maybe I will do that one.

If McAfee is now playing "nice-nice" with Fx, they better fix their main site which displays badly on Fx.
