    Hi,
According to the user guide all I need do is "run the setup process" in order to install TI for Linux (downloaded the trial version). Would someone please be so kind as to relate the setup process to me? I am running Debian on this test box.
    Thanks!

Ok, so I figured out how to run the executable, but during setup I am receiving the following error:

Could it be due to the fact I ave the downloaded file saved under my /home directory?
    Thanks for any help...

By the way, there is no log file under /var/lib/dkms/snapapi/0.7.1/build/make.log, in fact there is no "build" folder under /0.7.1

Well, I thought I would take another tack...I managed to get the download to a Slackware 9.1 box. Logged in as root, without changing directories, I FTP the download over to the Slackware machine. I run ./ TrueImageServer9.1_d_en.i686 and get the error message "Not a directory" Fine, I move to /home and create a directory there with my username, then copy the file over to this new folder. I again try to launch the file and this time receive a permision denied error. I change permission on the file to 775 (or maybe 755...I forget, but it is supposed to be pretty much wide open to anyone) and when I attempt to launch the install I again receive the error message "Not a directory"
    What am I doing wrong?
I have not managed to locate any other posts regarding the Linux version of TI in this forum...any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello doxenberg,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Linux Server Disk Backup Software.

First of all, please be aware that you should install sources for 2.4.27-2-386 kernel prior to installing the free trial version of Acronis True Image 9.1 Server for Linux.

Please also note that when using a Slackware you should first log in as 'root', then go to the folder where TrueImageServer9.1_d_en.i686 file resides (using 'cd' command) and make file executable using the following command: # chmod a+x TrueImageServer9.1_d_en.i686.

After that you should execute the file in the following way: # ./TrueImageServer9.1_d_en.i686

If the problem still persists then please submit a request for technical support with the subject indicating that you want to contact Marian Fadeeva using Ask a question before you purchase Acronis software link. Please mention the link to this thread in your request. Marian will certainly provide you with the further instructions.

    Thank you.

    Hello Alexey,
Thank you very much for the reply.
After following your instructions I was able to invoke the setup process on my Slackware box, but the process bombed almost immediately after starting with the error illustrated in the attached screen shot. The error message instructed to e-mail the contents of trueimage-setup.log to support@acronis.com. I followed your instructions accordingly and submitted a pre-sales support request to Marian including the contents of the setup log.
For reference below are the contents of the setup log file:
Running 'rpm -U --percent --force --nodeps /tmp/RPMS.kc5fXc/dkms-2.0.4-2.noarch.rpm':
    finished
    Thanks

I just recalled reading a previous post last night wherein another user reported an identical problem with his Slackware 9.x box. After using the resolution method suggested in that post I was able to get TI Server for Linux successfully installed.
    Hooray!!!

    Guess I spoke too soon.
The Slackware box I am working on does not have X Windows so I am working strictly from the command line. When I tried doing a trueimagecmd --filename:nfs://servername/sharename/imagefilename.tib --create I get a "Command line parameters are incomplete or incorrect" error message.
I wanted to get a look at the disk partitions TI was seeing so I tried doing a trueimagecmd --list I get the error message "Cannot find the necessary program modules. Please reinstall the program"
Apparently using the "--norpm" option during install disabled the command line features of TI.
    The saga continues....
