WD Raptors

Who`s running 1. What do you think. Seems I have heard a pretty high failure rate. At least compared to the 7200 rpm HDDs. Comments? Thinking of getting one as a single master.

 

I have two WD Raptors, but only a few months :
WD Raptor WD740GD HDD 74gb 10000rpm SATA 8mb Cache 4.5ms. (= 70896 MB in reality)
I think 150gb is the latest WD Raptor.

Didn't notice any failure yet.

I also ordered :
HDD External Seagate 160GB USB 2.0 7200RPM 8MB

 

Thanks for the in-put. I`m just looking at the 36 gig. for my primary system. Run a Seagate 120 gig 7200 for storage.

 

This is a good tool to zero your WD Raptor, before installing Windows. Very userfriendly too.

I created a CD and it works like a charm.
Takes 20 minutes per harddisk, in my case.

 

Added it to my "tool box". Pretty much had all the standard HDD prep. tools. Missed that one.

 

I've had the WD360 (36GB, 10Krpm) running in my comp for 3 years. It's been a great performer and it hasn't given me any problems whatsoever.

Btw, it came with a 5-year warranty.

 

I`m liking what I am hearing. I know they have a good warranty....just try to avoid the hassle of an RMA and a reload if I can. They have been out for a while now. Guess they have the bugs worked out and their act pretty much together. Thanks.

 

I have a 80gb Raptor. I like it alot, great performer, haven't had any problems with it.
