I was attempting (badly I might add) to add a bit of humor and comparing what happened to the Ant's project and what's not happening with the A Squared project. God Bless Andreas, my attempt at humor wasn't meant to be mean.

Keep in mind that this is a release date for only ONE of the three a² versions. A² is a freeware version of a² with very basic features, only.

    Hello all,

With the free version of a2 due out today, I have not been able to access the site now for over 6 hours..... Is anyone else having this problem?

    Regards,
    Kent

Well ... I put the download online yesterday at 23:45 MET. There was quite a big rush on the version. It took about 5 - 10 minutes until he was simply overloaded. I went to bed and today at the morning the server still hung. Don't know when exactly it crashed.
But I will search for a few mirrors before reactivating the download. At the moment all is back online. Perhaps someone that downloaded the version can mail it to you?

Please do not post your email address here. Just wait untill the download servers are up and running. I think that's better than take the risk of getting a "special" version via email. This would be a good opportunity for hackers to make you executing *.exe files that might contain malicious code. Beware.

    Hi,

in fact the server was disabled by the hoster. I have monthly traffic limit. The limit was reched so they powered it off. If someone really needs the a² version just send a mail to haak.a@yaw.at . I still busy with the transfer and restore of the data. I cannot move until the old server is online again cause I simply haven't the old data stored on the old server.

Anybody here have any suggestions for Andreas. Seems like a lot of demand to try this new product. Judging by the page views for a² thread (over 4000) lots of interest.

issue #1: can wilderssecurity get a copy of the free version and then post it for download if all parties agree?

issue #2: since we are just halfway thru the month is there anyway to restore the old server by way of an exception, contacting the server host and greasing the skids so to speak

Well, since I work for a host provider, I suggest he moves his stuff over to our server. Depending on what's involved, we would be very reasonable and we certainly would love to host him. We provide a lot of free access for community related sites. So, it just depends. I already sent him an email, so I'll wait to hear from him.

"All parties" ;) have had contact about this a while ago.
We agreed upon receiving copies from the free version, as well as copies and licenses for the commercial version.

Both (free and commercial) will be tested. If they stand the test, we will put up the free version for download on our www.wilders.org site.

Issue #2 you'll have to discuss in private with the software developper. This isn't the place to do so.

    regards.

    paul
