I rana cross RKDetector (http://www.rootkitdetector.com/) and was wondering if anyone here has tried it, does it work? I currently run RootKitRevealer and the Blacklight Beta as scanners, just looking for more tools.

    Hi Comp01,

I have not tried it, however, I did visit the website referenced on your URL for the rootkitdetector, noted it was in Spanish, and proceeded to visit the website http://babelfish.altavista.com for translation of the webpage at http://www.shellsec.net/ to the forum where rookitdectector is discussed. However, upon inspection the only message thread was a query that was unanswered on how to uninstall it.

Presumably, it may be difficult to uninstall?

I also run (in addition to what you mention) RootKitHookAnalyzer1.01: (freeware) http://www.resplendence.com/hookanalyzer (information about)
    http://www.resplendence.com/downloads/hookanlz.exe (download)

Cehck out http://www.antirootkit.com , they have a list of antirootkit software available.

Darkspy is the latest one out and it is very good, even for a novice:rolleyes:

mind you the only thing to do when you get a rootkit is to wipe your hard drive and sure it wont be long before BIOS and video bios rootkits make their way into popular use...

    regards

Both versions work fine on my system. The only thing that version 0.62(3WDesign Security) ever finds is a wrong service> gmsipci.sys.

i've used RKDetector. it's a tiny dos program which you don't install.

you can also find it here vvv if you have Frisk.
    Frisk\FRISK\Plugins\rkdetector.exe
