Isn't there a phone number we can call. This program is new to me and I've only had it a couple days. I think we should be able to speak to a live person if needed. So far I cannot find anyone. I was told this software was the best backup instead of Ghost by Norton. I've been having nothing but trouble, I did install the new update and now some things are working much better. But there are still questions that are much easier to ask in person than write.

I also have read through the messages to one of my questions. I was able to do a small backup and verify it. The store I purchased this said I would be able to see the files with my eyes not the computer. So I would know for myself the files that really were backed up. Looks to me I read that it is not possible. This is not what I was told. I can still return the software but I wanted to make sure I am understanding right.

    Thank you, Sandy

If you want to view the files inside a backup, all you need to do is find the backup file, right click on it, and select mount. This will place the backup image onto your computer as another harddrive letter so that you can explore the contents of that image. This way you can verify that everything that should be there is inside the image.

In general i've found true image to be a good backup solution, as long as you have something to store images on other than dvds, which can be done (with some difficulty) but only if the backup spans one dvd.

If you do a Files/Folder backup, you cannot mount the image. Only disk and partition backup images can be mounted.
To see what’s in a Files/Folder image, you need to step through the recovery process until the contents of the image are displayed. The only problem is that you cannot see any file info except for the file names and paths.
Once you're done viewing, just cancel the recovery.

I've went through this process now. Are the backup files I am wanting to see the partitions with a new drive letter? They are the same as my regular partions but with a different drive letter? Hope that makes sense.
    Thanks for your help, Sandy

When you mount an image, the second screen should be “Assigning Logical Drive Letters”. At the bottom, TI will choose a letter(s) to assign the partition(s) in the image. You can change this if you like, but there is usually no reason to.

After you install the software, the very next thing you should do is make the bootable Rescue cd. Most of the features 90% of users need are accessible via the Rescue cd.

The two most used features are Image backup and Clone.

Clone is used when you want to make an exact (including being able to boot) copy of your existing boot drive like when you are upgrading to a larger hard drive.

Image backup is a compressed file of whatever partition or disk you backup.

It is also good to invest in an external drive, if you do not have a second internal one, to keep your backup Images.

Thank you for all your replies!

Where is this in the program ~ Image Backup? I cannot find it or it is named something different in my program.

I do have an extra internal drive and a large external drive. This is why I want software for it. Sandy

When you choose “Backup”, either from the “Operations” menu or the “Pick a Task” pane, the end result will be an “image file”; a file with a .tib extension that contains what you have chosen to backup.

homer007 - In your message below, I am not sure I understand what you wrote. Can you explain it better so I make sure I do understand. Thank you so much.
