The user computername\service could not be added to the Guests group because Computer

XP-P, here is the full error message:

The user computername\service could not be added to the Guests group because ComputerName\service does not exist.

In the above error message, "service" is the actual word that is used, unlike how I changed ComputerName for my computer's name.

I am trying to add a new user to the Other|Guests group. Although I am connected to a network, when I click on Add, I enter "service" as the user name, and the computer's name as the domain. My reason for doing this is because I need to send in the notebook for service, and I do not wish them to be able to mess around or view my files and folders.

What am I doing wrong here, and once I get the new account, how to best lock down everything except letting them sign on and create a new text document (or change the background)?

I believe service is a reserved word. Why not choose something similar (and time honored) like FieldService?

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, same problem, "does not exist." I must have something or some service switched off that I cannot figure out.
