    hi everyone.
a friend of mine jus installed NOD32 and set it up and has now got a problem with the AMON componant.

    heres whats happening.

sometimes when he boots up his pc, AMON is disabled and when he opens AMON to enable it, sometimes it takes him several attempts to enable it with the tick in the box. then when he restarts his pc after closing it down, it sometimes comes up disabled again, but sometimes its ok.

any thoughts why its happening. everything else works ok, database updates ok, he can scan ok, just the AMON sometimes disables itself after startup.

    any help or thoughts appreciated.

    cheers.....GLEN

I'd say he has a low amount of RAM installed, especially if he gets an error loading resident protection.

i didnt realise low ram could cause this problem, i have nod32 on several computers, even old pentium 500 systems that somehow has win xp installed with less than 256mb ram and i have no issues at all with NOD32 running on those.
they do however have issues with win xp not running very well due to low ram, whoever puts win xp on a 500mhz system with 256mb ram or less is stupid, but thats another story.

this guy told me his pc is a p4 2.4ghz system with 512 ram, so if it is then it should be running ok.

anyway, ill call him and ask.

    thanks.....GLEN

    1. Have you removed all traces of the previous AV installed? Use a good registry cleaner.

    2. Have you tried disabling any other programs that startup with Amon? These maybe causing a conflict.

    3. If you still have problems; download another copy of NOD; uninstall present version, remove the ESET folder from your Program files on your C Drive, then install the new copy of NOD.

I'll add to what Blackcat said and say when you reinstall do so using "Typical Settings".

    Cheers :D

yes this guy told me he uninstalled several times now, even remove the eset folder in program files, and reinstall and added the nod32.reg file that another guy gave me in whirlpool and it still disables on startup.

im going to get him to bring his pc to me to look at, i got 3 busted ribs and cant drive and ill do a fresh install of nod32 first, then if all else fails ill reformat his pc again the correct way this time.
he also says he now has a problem since last week that his pc randomly shutsdown and reboots, so theres another thing hes got wrong.
his pc is a celly with only 256 ram running win xp home and he is trying to install all these top games that his old mx440 wont handle, let alone his cpu or ram.

these people got no idea whats going on, i think maybe he went somewhere he shouldnt have and got something.

    anyway, thanks.

btw, did the typical install with nod32.
and i gave him your advanced user guide as well blackspear, i use it with all my installations of nod32
