And what's the value of VW when you have to add almost 2/4 of the entire car price for repairs?

It should make a difference when you use your brakes on time and avoid any crahses that way.......makes the repairs a lot cheaper! Maintainance way.....if you have a recent model, it costs very little, is my experience and you sure have a great quality car!

This is the same with F-prot......great quality for a few bucks.....!
Were we not talking about F-prot v4 coming soon? Now we are driving Volkswagens.....oh well, interesting all together!

No car make is 100% reliable... No av solution is 100% reliable… Personal experiences differ. :-*

    Hey Erik

How do you think they test the licensing stuff to be sure that works. Naturally it is all part of the beta test. Guess what. If you have a commercial KAV 5.0 key that also worked on the beta versions.

Because it is not a beta anymore.:)

It actually was there too in the beta, simply to test it on a large scale.

Just download the actcodes.txt, in this are free codes until it will be released officially. This way you can probably use the trial when 6.0 is released officially and get nice long trial.

Of course, not a static situation - change will occur, hopefully for the better.
In particular, I purchased a Hyundai for my son some 15 years ago & it was satisfactory relative to the initial cost, maintenance and ultimate resale price (yes, it had a value even after 8 years). My daughter purchased a VW about 3 years ago and has been happy overal.. However, it has been far from trouble-free even with recommended maintenance. Finally, another daughter just purchased a 2006 Hyundai with more features than the VW and for $2,500 less and a superior warranty. Also, Hyundai has made substantial improvements in both quality and performance. Yugo never showed any ability or desire to improve.

How analogous this is to AV software, I don't know - but I've had similar results as bigc73542with respect to AVG but feel that NOD32 has improved their initial excellent product. Certainly KAV has had a similar path as NOD32, or maybe it's vice versa.

I don't see any actcodes.txt. I see a pdf file and release notes. I can't get to the site you linked. In fact, Firefox protests and says its a rogue site and then Proxo kills it. :D I downloaded from ftp://ftp.kaspersky.com/beta/kav6.0/english/. You have another link that Firefox will like?

No, i don't have any other link, it is the server where the latest beta builds are made available for the testers and where the actcodes.txt are too, the link you have used are the official beta''s, but since you have installed (with the trial option?) it doesn't matter.

Well, that is odd. I thought the url was familar. That is where I used to get the betas...on Fx no less. No, I didn't check the trial option. I haven't activated it. So, I only got one definitions update. I'll look into this more.

Not odd at all, just two different servers, one for the public with tested builds and one for the weirdo's (that would be me among others) who wants test builds not completely tested to find the quirks, they used to come weekly and in some periodes daily.

Anyway here are the codes for Kis and Kav:

    Thank you! :)

I had just tried your link on IE7 and it happily went to the public link instead. Then I noticed that in IE there was a link to a higher directory. That had the keys. Fx did not show me a link to a higher directory on the public link so no wonder I didn't see the keys. This is what Fx was concerned about in regards to your link:

What I think is, that beta versions are for beta-testers.
I guess : other times, other principles.

pretty fancy a static armadillo unpacker.

armadillo was always pointed out on nautilus's page as one of the best ways
    to hide malware from AV/AT.
