Is it possible to restore an image created by True Image v9.1 with bootable media created by True Image 9.0?

maybe, but for compatibility sake, its safer to recreate a bootable cd with ATI v9.1.

As far as I know there hasn't been yet a ver. 9.1 of True Image in either Home, Enterprise, Corporate or Server edition. The topmost version number is 9.0 and it has been issued to the current version of True Image - Home edition.

You should verify where the image really came from.

ATI Workstation, Server, and Enterprise are at version 9.1 but ATI Home is not. anyways my point was that older versions of ATI may or may not be able to restore images of newer versions.

OK, well anyway, the T.I. 9.1 workstation images are definitely not compatable with T.I. 8. But the T.I.8 Boot CD is compatable with T.I. 9.0 images.

So, I'd guess that TI 9.1 Workstation Images aren't compatable with TI 9.0 Boot CD's.

    Oops, sorry for that one.

I had checked the Updates list and there, all the editions are still at either ver. 8.0 or 9.0

    Hello asm51,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We regret to inform you that it's impossible to restore the image created by Acronis True Image 9.1 with the bootable rescue media created by Acronis True Image 9.0.

However, you can restore the image created by any previous version of Acronis True Image with the bootable rescue media created by Acronis True Image 9.1.

    Thank you.

Strange. Having not received a definitive reply in this forum I asked exactly the same question of your Support Department. I received an E-mail with the opposite answer and was told that is WAS possible to restore a v9.1 image with v9.0 bootable media but it was recommended that I use v9.1 bootable media. Unfortunately I have deleted the E-mail.

The reason I asked the question is that I make a CDR with all my useful utilities on it and as the new v9.1 bootable image is now three times the size of that in v9.0 I would prefer to save the space and use the older version.

    Hello asm51,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We have just consulted with our Development Team and can inform you that all the products from the 9.1 series use the new imaging engine which creates images with different structure from the images created with previous versions. That is why previous versions are not able to restore image files created with any product of 9.1 series.

However, all 9.1 products support images created with previous versions.

Actually, this relates to Acronis True Image 9.0 Home version too, because new build 3567 uses the same new imaging engine.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

    Thank you.
