OK I have 2.51.20 for Windows Standard. Can I install 2.51.26 over it? And will that keep all my settings? Or do I have to fresh install? Or if I wait will 2.51.20 update to 2.51.26 through regular auto updates? Thanks.

You can install over the top, or do a complete uninstall and reinstall the newer version. If you choice to install over your current version, it will ask you if you want to keep the current settings. :)

Sorry for such a newbie question, but how do you know which version you have installed? In the systray it just seems to show the version of signatures.

If you open the the UI, by clicking on the trayicon you will find this info under
"info".This is located under system tools.(last item in the tree of options)

    Thanks :)

It says base version 2.50.25. The update says the signatures are up to date though.

I haven't uninstalled nod32 since I bought it and wondered how a complete uninstall/clean reinstall would affect the 1 year license I paid for. Is it voided to a trial version over again?

But De Hollander didn't suggest either of them. He just said you CAN do either. o_O

And that still doesn't answer my question about how uninstalling affects the 1 year license i paid for. Anyone?

You have a 1 year subscription on virus updates. The only way virus updates can be used is through the program. So updating the program is no problem. As long as your username / pw are valid, uninstalling / reinstalling doesn't change the subscription time. :)

I do the uninstall / reinstall routine for a new version, but you could try to install over the top. If anything goes wrong, you still have the option to uninstall /reinstall.

You can install the new version (2.51.26) over the version you currently have without losing your settings, your license will remain the same and you won't have to uninstall the whole program.
This will save you the hassle of a total uninstall/install.

A total uninstall/install won't affect your license, you have your password/userid.

    Greetings Lamehand

Hey SSK we posted at the same time, to the minute.

Thanks folks, that's all I needed to know. :thumb:

A minor panic while I tried to find the username/password, but disaster has been averted so I'll go for the classic clean install. More effort, but thanks to previous conflicts and annoyances it's more to put my own mind at ease.

    ...make a wish! :D

Automatic update of program components will be probably released in one-two weeks.

It's been said several times that an automatic update is issued only if a major change has been made to the code. We plan to release one more component update for v2 later before v3.

    Hi Marcos,

Does that mean that there will be no automatic update for the latest updateo_O?
And like Larryb52 have said, how customer who doesn't come here can know about component updateo_O (just wondering ;-)

    Best regards,

Eset UK's page is not showing details of any component updates either. Do the versions vary according to your OS?

I'm still using '98 and have 2.50.25 as my Base and Internet Support Versions and 2.50.44 as the Standard Component Version. o_O

Ooops! I somehow never managed to get past the offer of the trial version .

It will be good when automatic notification of component updates is included, similar to the notification I got from my Opera browser today, telling me that 8.54 is now available.

As I don't have any problems I decided to install over the top BTW Togg I just got my copy of Opera 8.54 not more than 5 min ago.

I got my NOD update and Opera 8.54 and installed both 'over the top'. I've been able to do that with both programs at every update and have never had any problems as a result.

Happily, this means I don't have any concerns about whatever the current IE scare may be, because I am not using it (except for updates, and that will not be for much longer!)

Here's the official line according to the email support anyway.
If this is the case then how come I'm still running 2.50.25 according to my info, and not 2.51.20 like in zapjb's case? Even though I get the usual message:

For larger clients, there will be an update that remedies the vulnerability. If you are a holder of a single license, there's no need to upgrade to v. 2.51.26 as it is exactly the same as v. 2.50.25 apart from the vulnerability fix. The vulnerability cannot be exploited in a SOHO environment as it requires the user to be logged in with guest rights as well as a special-crafted code that must be run intentionally in order to get the option to run an arbitrary file from folders where the guest account has access restricted.
