    Hi n8chavez,

Well, I'm done playing around and have concluded that you can't use the Sateira burning software with the WinISO procedures detailed in Post #1 or Post #26.

Personally I would ditch it as it threw me a couple of wobblies during testing. Namely, it failed to erase previous bootable DVD ISO compilations and occassionally displayed an error message after burning the Bootable rescue DVD ISO file. However, if you still wish to use Sateira rather than Nero Burning ROM then you will need to use the UlraISO procedure in Post #171, although Step 11 needs to be amended as follows:

If, after saving the BootDVD.iso file to the E:\TIbootDVD\ISO\ folder, UltraISO didn't manage to hook into the ASPI layer then open Sateira's "Project Selector" and select "Burn Disc Image" (Screenshot 1 below). There is no need to attempt create a bootable "Data Disc" as the ISO image saved in Step 10 is already bootable. In the "Image Burner" window, browse to the ISO file saved in Step 10, reduce the burn speed to around half the maximum rated speed of your recorder or DVD media (whichever is the lesser) and then click the burn button (Screenshot 2 below). If you receive an "transfer block out of range" error message on completion then just ignore it as it didn't seem to affect the integrity of the burn (as far as I could tell).

    Regards

Hmmm...I kinda liked Sateira. I literally have tried everything...CDXPburnerpro, CDRTFE (CDRTools) Nero, DeepBurner, etc. I think Nero is bloatware to the extreme (a la symantec) plus it is very expensive. I have been using CDRTFE and liked that but recently it started burning coaster, in fact every disc I tried burning (20+). I have a licence for DeepBurner Pto, but it do not support double-layer burning, and it is quite large also. So if you have any suggestions on small yet capable apps, I'd be glad to hear them.

    Hi again n8chavez,

I'm afraid I can't help you there. I settled on Ahead's InCD and Nero many, many years ago and have been using them ever since. I currently have Nero 6 Reloaded but haven't upgraded to V7.0 yet as it still appears to be somewhat buggy.

I agree with you that Ahead seems to gotten into a bloatware race with Roxio. Which is a shame as I only use Nero Burning ROM and really have no use for any of its other associated multimedia applications.

Anyway, hopefully other forum members can provide you with additional names of suitable CD/DVD recording software for use with the WinISO or UltraISO procedures detailed in this thread.

    Regards

Created an ISO with an image size 1.32 GB all went well
MD5 verification says it is ok perfect copy but internal image verification tool stops and gives an error message half way through.
What am I doing wrong here to deserve this?

I bought True Image 9 thinking I would not have to do all these extra steps!! I thought TI9 did all these things for me. All I wanted to do was create a bootable DVD of my computer, but as I understand it now, I have to download and install some other programs to get it to work?? That's not cool.

Is there a SINGLE program out there that will make a copy of my newly reloaded computer, and then copy it to a bootable DVD, that it makes, so in the end all I have is 1 DVD that can be booted off to restore my computer?

Can't I just make a bootable resuce dvd from true image 9 ( I figured out that one), and copy the backup image to it also? Then when I restore the "c" drive with the bootable dvd, can't I just point the bootabole dvd to itself to find the backup image?

    Thanks for the fast reply
    Question:

    I followed the instructions on#171. I have True Image 9, UltraISO 7.6.6.16308
and Nero 6.6. The Instructions worked all the way to #11. At about 2/3 the way done, it errors out and Just says could not complete the .iso file, would I like to save the incomplete file anyway. What am I doing wrong?

    Hello tanviper,

    Please advise the following:

    1. What split size did you use for the TI image?
    2. How many .tib files did you select to burn to the DVD?
    3. Did you manage to complete Step #10 alright?
    4. Did you use a blank, unformatted, DVD+/-RW or a blank DVD+/-R?
    5. What write speed did you choose in Step #11?

    Regards

    Hello vareniky,

I doubt very much that your corrupt image problem is due to these bootable DVD procedures. They have been tried and tested successfully too many times for that to be the case ;).

Out of interest, which one of the "bootable rescue DVD(s)" procedures are you using?

More importantly, have you been able to burn an image to a normal DVD as per either of the two procedures detailed in this <previous reply> and then verify it O.K.?

    Regards

    Menorcaman,

Thanks for your help. Here's the information you wanted:

    1) I split them into 1477mb.
    2) 2 of them
    3) no, this step is where I got the error messge.
    4) Yes, I used a brand new TDK 4.7gb dvd
    5) I never got a chance to pick the speed. When (if) I do, I'll make sure to drop the speed in half.

    Hi again tanviper,

Everything looks O.K. to me so maybe you have the same problem that Dick471 had and need to uninstall UltraISO, clean out any UltraISO registry entries and then reinstall it. Check out Posts 173 to 179.

    Regards

Is there a freeware program that can clean out my Registry? I don't want to have to buy a program just to clean my registry once.

I use Ulraiso 7.6.5 to create an image ISO and burn with Alcohol. All goes well
until I get corrupted file message
I have burned twice to a DVD-RW disc one is x4 and x2 speeds the file size is about 1.4Gb so I don't know what else has failed there unless for some unknown reason I should split the (image) file into smaller chunks?

    cheers

I got this to successfully work today while I was at work. I had to reload my main computer, so I installed a fresh copy of XP, and a new 20gb HD to store my .tif files to. I then installed fresh copies of true Image 9.0, and UltraISO 7.6.6.1308.

The computer booted off my DVD, and reimaged my computer; nice.

I also found a free Registry clear called Cleanmy PC. Well, it's not free. It's got a 15-day evaluation, but it does the job if you’re only looking for a one time fix. It also only cleans a few problems at a time, but all you have to do is rerun it until all your problems are fixed. =-)

I still have to try this at home, but now I have more confidence it'll work.

Yes!! I got this to work at home last night. I had to uninstall ultraISO, run a registry checker to remove all the errors, and then reinstall UltraISO. I had no problems after this.

I wonder why you have to uninstall UltraISO? Maybe the link they send you to d/l the full version is bad some how, or maybe copying over the demo version with the full version somehow mucks things up; Who knows!

Anyway, I'm up and running now. I still would rather have True Image do everything by itself, rather then having to use TI 9, UltraISO, and Nero.:doubt:

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi again vareniky,

I'm still not sure whether you've managed to save an image to a normal DVD (not a bootable DVD) so perhaps you could do the following and let me know the results:

    1. Create an image to your hard drive and verify it via the Check Archive Wizard.

    2. Use Alcohol to burn the image that you created on your hard drive to a normal DVD-ROM (ISO) disk. Boot from the TI rescue CD and verify the image on DVD via TI's built-in "Check Archive" wizard.

    Regards

    Hello again Menorcaman
Yes I continue to have problems though I must confess did not update my ultraiso to the latest version
As I said I use DVD-RW write x4 or x2 buit the problem is restoring the file and in the past three occassions I kept on getting fatal error messages
Not very happy as you can imagine unless it is the media fault which I doubt very much since there have been used three or four times
Besides Check Archive Wizard I don't have if you are referring to CheckImage utility it is not compatible with the latest TI9.x
Would you have a download link for this wizard?
    Thanks

I'm afraid I don't understand o_O. Are you using TI 9.0 or TI 9.1? The "Check Archive" wizard is TI 9.0's built-in image verification tool but TI 9.1 must have the same/similar feature.

We need to ascertain whether you can successfully verify an image that has been burnt as an ordinary DVD-ROM (ISO) disk. Unless you can do that there is no point in trying to create a "Bootable rescue DVD". Please carry out the two procedures as requested in Post #245 above. Note that I have amended the second procedure to provide additional clarification and added a requirement to boot from the TI rescue CD prior to verification.

    Regards

So if I am not mistaken you propose to create an ISO and mount it on a virtual drive check for reading errors and then burn? Am I right?

No, what I'm saying is that you should create an image to your hard drive and verify it using TI's built-in "Check Archive" tool. If the image checks out O.K. then copy (burn) it to a DVD using your normal CD/DVD burning software (Alcohol) then boot from the TI rescue CD and verify the image that you burnt onto DVD using TI's built-in "Check Archive" tool.

    Regards
