Ok, installed version 2 last night. So far I have just one word to describe this version 2 … smooooooooth. So far as I’ve been able to determine v.2 has about the same impact (or lack of) on my old Win98 System Resources as v.1 did. Uninstalling v.1 did NOT bring back my original email configuration, I even got an error message warning me about it but much to my surprise I was able to easily get email working (so far anyway). Which brings me to the only question that I have at this point. In my four years of computing I have contracted a total of just three viruses and all 3 of them arrived via email. Having not read all the help files yet (and being terminally lazy), how can I tell that this new v.2 is indeed scanning my email? V.1 had that easy to find screen that gave my all my email screening info. I sure that it exists in v.2 but I haven’t been able to find it yet and since all my past infections arrived by email you can understand my concern. To the developers of NOD v.2 … so far, VERY impressed!

    Thank you, Acadia.

    1) Make sure that IMON is enabled
    2) Disable AMON
    3) Download the file EICAR.COM (for instance, http://www.nod32.it/eicar.com)
    4) Send the file by e-mail to yourself
    5) Enable AMON again

Download your e-mails and see what happens: IMON should display an alarm window as soon as it will intercept the e-mail with eicar.com in attachment.

    ciao,
    Paolo.

    Hi Acadia,

If you open Imon in the control center you should be able to see how many messages have been scanned and the attachements too.

Also, I think the default setting may be to put a text notice at the bottom of all incoming emails that it has been scanned by NOD. (At least I don't recall choosing that setting but it can be turned on and off in the IMON set up panel.)

So if you see that text at the bottom of your received emails, you know that IMON is doing something to your email (in addition to the other ways mentioned previously).

Hmmm, very interesting and thank you both. I actually wasn't able to send myself that test virus because my ISP’s antivirus system removed it before it got to my inbox. But the email did say at the very bottom "This message was checked by NOD32 Antivirus System." Plus it showed in the Control Center status that Martin pointed out. I guess that means my email is actually getting scanned twice. EXCELLENT and again, thank you both.

As smooth as v.1 was, v.2 is even better. Makes me wonder why I waited so long. Martin and everyone, thanks for all the help, Acadia.

EDIT: just corrected speeling error <g>
