The hardening tools do often disable redirects, which sounds like what this could be.

    As always, thanks Notok.

Question for all... I notice a lot of people leaning towards dumping their current AV and FW for KIS. With that in mind, who here is going in the same route?

Hi dja2k, I'm using KIS 2006 on one of my VmWare Consoles solely without any Hips installed (like AD,RD,PG,SU or FDISR ...)
On another console I have Nod32 installed and all the separte programs (like AD/RD/FDISR/Ewido/Boc/ .. )
.. I guess I'll go with the two after all ... cause KIS2006 is just all I expect from a suite (and I don't like them suites in general !!!) and the rest I cannot say goodbye too :)

But if the suite has been built good .. with no critical bugs in any of the components I would say it's ok to use it. I see it like a hifi system ... when the cd player isn't working anymore, chances are the other components won't work anymore too...
But hifi isn't therefore bad :) but still it's something I would always keep in mind ..

I will probably use KIS on one of my secondary machines, but I'll be keeping NOD32 on my main machine :)

Okay lets play with a new question. If you had only three security programs, what would they be? Individually like AV, AT, HIPS, FW? Now no cheating and getting an all in one suite, that would count as all three. Let the postings begin...

    Nice Responses...Mine would be these.

    (low resource usage alternative)
Kaspersky Internet Security 2006 (all active installed including the proactive one) - once it goes final

    or

    (resource usage not an object)
    Kaspserksy AV 2006 (no proactive)
    Look'n'Stop
    Online Armor

By the way, I would think that Appdefend at this point would be considered two cause it has Regdefend installed as defualt. In theory I count KIS as three, maybe could be considered more, but it has the AV, FW, and the PROACTIVE (HIPS) parts to it. So with that, KAV 2006 with the proactive would be in theory again be two products in one; a dedicated AV plus Proactive (HIPS). I am trying to see your setups in what products you can substitute by using others and\or a suite.

In reguards to my regular security setup, I have downgraded to the following active programs...

    Kav 2006 Beta (no proactive)
    Look'n'Stop 2.05p3 Beta
    GSS Appdefend\Regdefend Beta
    Online Armor 1.1.0.692 Beta
    Ewido 3.5

    Removed
    RegRun Gold 4.5
    Spyware Doctor 3.5

    dja2k

*Trying to free up resources. Still thinking about removing
Ewido from the active list since KAV is somewhat good in
detecting and removing trojans and those other nasty
    stuff with its extended database.

    dja2k,
I am doing a test since two weeks now. I removed all my programs, LNS, OA, RegDefend and Ewido.
I have my Netgear Router WGR614 and KIS6.0 (latest beta) with all active installed, including ProActive. My system has never been running so smooth and fast since a long time.

Some people report they have problems with KIS6.0 beta, but on my system it's perfect. I am very pleased so far.I will wait another two weeks, until the final version of KIS is released to make my final decision.:)
