Did you see the latest test results:
    http://www.firewallleaktester.com/tests.php
(use the link on the bottom of that page ;) )

Ones again regarding outbound protection: Does "Process Guard" protect me from the remaining leaktests, which currently can not be controlled by LnS?

    Thanks,
    Thomas :)

    Hello Thomas,

I use PG. and just ran all the leak tests and not one would run,due to the fact I have it in lock mode so everything that is not in my list of protected App's will give you a pop-up-> [Handle is invalid!] You can't even open them unless you tell PG. to do so.

So, yes it does stop leak tests from starting up or doing anything to my computer if PG. if set-up correctly. And stops anything that LnS can't as of yet as far as leak tests go it does stop all of them from even starting up in the first place.Nothing was able to bypass my security.

I like LnS and PG very much no conflicts and they both do a very good job at protecting my O/S. :)

    Kush,

Thanks for your fast reply :) !
I have one more question: does PG also prevent the scenario, which I described here:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=122781
So I mean, in case my standard browser is already active, could PG prevent an outbound request (to Google.com) from "process explorer" by use of my standard browser??

    Thanks again,
    Thomas :)

if you put pg in lockdown mode and you came to the conclusion that it stops leaktests ... well, if you shutdown your computer it stops leaktests too.

try to receive the same results but with pg NOT in lockdown mode...cause that's cheating :D

/yep, got some probs with the quoting again...stupid invention ;)

I wonder: Jetico is the best of the pack. Is LnS better with the ruleset of our friend Phantom, which I use, in use?

    Hello Jerry,

In short this is what a Sandbox does is changes the rules
such, that write operations do not make it back to your hard disk.

Intercepts changes to both your files and registry settings
making it virtually impossible for any software to reach outside the sandbox.

A Sandbox traps cached browser items into the sandbox as a by-product of normal operation.

So when you throw away the sandbox, all the history records and other side-effects of your browsing disappear(virus, trojan, spyware, adware, registry changes, cookies, etc) and you will never get infected this way when you surf the Internet.

Just don't forget to delete the sandbox or you will have them in your temp files or in system restore.

You can also run software programs in a sandbox such as P2P,untested software installations to avoid possible infection,or just to test what some software can do to your registry before you really install it on your hard drive for good.Hope that helps.:)

    Hello shaunwang,

There is no sandbox on LnS,but some Av's have them and I think there are also a few firewalls that use sandbox technology also.

I have been testing it for about two months and have tried to infect myself to death! And nothing can write to my HD.If I run my browser within the sandbox. And delete the Sandbox afterwards nothing can sneak in,or write to your HD.

If you use the search engine on Wilders type in Sandbox and there are many out there to try out, some are free others are shareware,Good Luck

    Hello Thomas,

Sorry your question seems to have gone unanswered,I did find this link which maybe of some help to you:

You can tell PG what software or process is allowed to read, write, modify etc,so it maybe possible but I have never tried it with PG,since finding out about the Sandbox to protect my browser and even if my
browser is some how redirected or hi-jacked it is all within the Sandbox only!So what ever happens it can be all wiped-out,by deleting the Sandbox and nothing ever gets written to your HD.

Good Luck and hope somebody can answer your question in full about PG.

The tester mentioned on their site that they did not use the latest beta drivers with LnS due to them not running on x64. With the new beta drivers, LnS is at least equal first, even with the Enhanced rule set :) :ninja:

I haven't run with the very latest experimental beta driver though, but this only adds a fix for the DEP problem so it should not hcange the result.
