    NOD32 Scanner

    1) A checkmark "View only threads"/"All warnings" in logs' window while scanning
    2) Only three buttons in NOD32 module: for example "Fast Scan", "Full scan" (All options ON) and "Scan disk A:"

    AMON

    - Delayed scan of file if it's size's more than XX (or scanning time is more than XX) (block access to this file while delaying the oparation)

    Hi all

my wishes list for NOD32 :

    - A "creat a NOD32 plugin for BartPE" fonction !!! (like Kaspersky 6 :'( ) or at least, the possibility to create a bootable CD with latest definitions (or capable of reading latest definitions stored on an usb key)
    - A better interface
    - possibility for NOD to erase viruses in mails archives without erasing mails themselves
    - different levels of protection settings (for ex. Normal and Max -all scan options enabled) for beginners, while keeping of course the possibility to set parameters manually (as actual version).

    Now some questions :

    - what about a NOD32 "internet security suite" ? (NOD32+firewall+real accurate antispyware)

    - Is there a V3 of NOD in progress ... ?

AMON scanner able to unpack archive and scan/delete viruses and then repackage the archive.
Or if repackaging is sucha big issue, delete the whole infected archive even if it mean loosing 19/20 good files.
An infected file on the network is more dangerous than having to loose data that can be resent or re-packaged.

AMON and not sure if other modules do this, will skip infected archives (taz, zip, cab, etc), jar,js,etc and also certain other files and only reports an infection, does not delete the file if cleaning is not performed.

I would rather see a partnership between eset and someone who makes a best of breed firewall. Agnitum would be a good choice.

    NOD32 scaner

Advanced activities with email clients' folders (i.e. thebat, thunderbird etc.) if they are infected, not only IGNORE or ASK USER actions

I'd like to see this too, or at least make it available via the web site or something. A form where you enter your login/passwd and e-mail address and it sends you your expiration date.

A related question would be: What happens as your expiration date gets close? Does the software warn you that you're getting close and should renew for uninterrupted service? Or do you just get alerted when it actually expires? (I'm still within my first year of using NOD32, so I don't know what to expect.)

This becomes difficult due to the wide variety of file formats. NOD32 can't just treat these as files, it has to understand the format and treat these as streams of messages.

Generally, you don't want anything but your e-mail client working on your e-mail client's data files. Having another program jump in and make some changes could lead to file corruption.

Thunderbird is probably better than most in these respects because it uses fairly standard mailbox files. I don't know how it reacts to having files changed without notice though.

It's probably better in some ways to use the standard I/O of an e-mail client - POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP.

Another solution would be to work as a plugin of some kind, but that means the e-mail client has to have provisions for this type of thing... and not all do.

Keeping track of all the variants and making sure your software works and keeps working as new releases of e-mail clients come out becomes a huge job - unless you stick to standardized I/O as mentioned above.

    - preview mail headers (!) with checkboxs (recieve, delete etc.)
    - aka Spamassasin BASIC rules

According to ESET customer services, NOD32 v3 is being released this summer, with Anti-Virus, Firewall and Spam protection.

    Alternate option on download site.

Would be very simple to have two options to download updates. Mobile users on notebooks at the moment either have to manually update, or just alway go direct to eset. Better if you can setup two download options, and if one fails to connect (ie local server) then a second option is tried (eset download site).

Notebooks are becoming a bigger percentage of the PC market ( I sell more notebooks than desktops already). so looking after the mobile users is much more important.

This is already possible, just create a primary and secondary update profile, edit an update task and specify the profiles in the last setup screen.

ESET promise it will be something really great and the product will be on low resourses again.
I know that there will be NOD32 version3 and another separate products called ESET Personal Suit with the mre advanced protections such as the firewall , SPAM and spyware but I don't know if NOD32 v3 will be changed so much . I really love the current NOD32 version 2.51.

It would be great I think for ESET to consider adding the option for all ThreatSense.Net submissions (statistics and samples) to happen via the update path, even from client to RAS to RAS to RAS to ESET if necessary. I am aware of plenty of networks where there is only one machine on the whole network that has internet access.

That hasn't always been true. Please fix EMON so it again works with MAPI mail clients other than Microsoft's.

Reference Nod32 Scanner Nbr. 12 Check box to allow only found infections to be displayed while scanning.

Add: A check box for the same when the scan is completed, so only infected files will be seen in the log. (It's impossible to find anything when it has a few hundred thousand files listed! The only alternative I've found is to set it to prompt when something is found, but then one needs to sit at the computer forever.)

Restart after install is quite dated now. In this world of plug and play I should be able to deploy NOD32 to most machines (Win XP SP2, Win2k3 SP1) without forcing a restart.

I'm not sure if this works now with 2.5 or not but for mobile users if woudl be nice if they used the local mirror if it was available otherwise try a NOD32 update server.

Vista is nearly upon us and I've heard reports that the CPU maxs out at 100% when running on Windows Vista. It would be nice to run NOD32 on Vista even at this early Beta 2 stage as many developers use the new technologies before they are released.

As an option and by default NOD32 should inherit Windows Themes. This keeps a consistent UI for users however the Graphical UI is nice as an alternative.

Deployment using Windows Installer would enable NOD32 to be deployed using existing software deployment solutions such as SMS and Group Policy in Windows.

A Mac version of NOD32 would be nice as unfortunatley I have to manage a partly mac environment and I would prefer to run a single solution on my networks.

NOD32 for SQL server would be another great addition to support source code control systems and document managment systems such as SharePoint.

PS: NOD32 is the best anti virus solution in the world in terms of performance and protection.

I hope there will be a "Leak Scanner" in the new version of nod32:

    1. the "Leak Scanner" can scan the leak(vulnerability) of our computer and give us the patch's urls.
    2. other features such as weak password scan.

    best regards.

that is far from the purpose of an antivirus.

i think the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer covers those two features tho. u can also give the Belarc Advisor a spin.
