o_O The Wildman is going to have to get out of Southern California, he can't afford the prices any more.

I had an idea and that was to ask all of my Wilders friends to list areas in the U.S.A. that would be cheap for the Wildman to live in. The only requirement is that there must be an active military installation close by. The Wildman ain't picky either, they can be any branch of the service. The Wildman is dependent upon a commissary and medical facility.

    Thanks
    Wildman

    Wildman,
Really...for real is it that bad? How far would you be willing to go to have cheap living (in the USA I mean) otherwise my help would be limited? ;)

East coast...north east can you define cheap...things are going up all over the place for sure? :doubt:

Atlanta is pretty cheap, and there are tons of military installations around Georgia

Oklahoma has many military bases and a good VA hospital in Oklahoma City. I moved from ventura County in California in 1989 to Here in OKlahoma. It is about as cheap to live here as anywhere there is. I have Fort Sill Army Base Thirty Minutes away In Lawton OK and Altus Airforce Base in Altus OK that is thirty minutes away. and Tinker Airforce Base in Oklahima City that Is 2 1/2 hours away and then there is Sheppard Airforce Base in Wichita Falls Texas which is fourty five minutes away. We are surrounded by military bases.

    bigc

EDIT there is a military hospital of some sort at fort sill in Lawton also. and the run a shuttle to the VA hospital in OK city on a regular basis also.

a few pictures of Fort Sill Here

Ahh Sheppard AFB and Wichita Falls TX. That brings back memories. I spent 4 months there for job training when I was in the Air Force. That was a long time ago. Made a trip or two to Lawton. :)

I could go on and on about the great things they have and will be happening in Myrtle Beach with this Myrtle Beach Air Base Redevelopment Authority.

I know many retired living in this redevelopment.. lovely houses and very affordable....and they never forget a comrade in arms. :ninja:

:) Thank you all my wonderful Wilders friends. The Wildman is going through some rough personal problems right now, and will be having to move very soon, so I do from the bottom of my heart thank you all. I don't know how often or how much longer I can continue to post here, but you can bet your last dollar that the "Wildman" will be back here as soon as he possibly can. After all this time, take a look at the way I will sign off on this one.

    Thanks

I guess he was serious. :(

There are bases in VA and PA where I have lived. Cost of living is not as bad as CA for sure.

I look forward to the Wildman coming back soon or staying around as long as he can. Thank you for your service to your country Bill. ;)

:doubt: Well I've held the dogs off for a while longer, and managed to keep the electrify hooked up for a while longer also. I won't go into personal details except to say that the problems are serious. I managed to get some contacts through various sources and am now able to get some necessary things accomplished.

BigC and BB, the "Wildman" will be in either one or the other of your area in a shorter amount of time than even I can imagine, it is all going to boil down to which of the two areas are cheaper.

It has come down to the point where I will be packing a u-haul with the necessary items, leaving the rest to be disposed of however the powers to be want to take care of it, and heading with the spouse and myself to either Oklahoma or Kansas.

I will keep posting here as long as I can, and will be back here as soon as I can, the puter is coming with me.

    Thanks
    Wildman

    Hi Wildy

I'm VERY sorry to hear about the predicament you find yourself in. But i truly believe that things do happen for a good reason, emphasis on the Good !

So although it can't have been easy for you and your wife whilst this has been going on, at least you will be able to have a fresh start. That's not the oppourtunity that many of us ever get to do, though i'm sure we've often thought about it from time to time.

So don't look back, you only have the future, and all that Will bring from now on to share together.

One of the Many benefits from moving, and to a less expensive part of the country is, you get a lot more for your money. And often the scenery is much nicer too, and far less congested. So all in all i would say you are on a winner all the way. Hey i'm jealous lol, as i keep thinking about making that Big move, so you may have just inspired me to do it, so thanks.

Yes CA is very nice, i've been there, but the USA has many lovely places to see, and live.

Another thing, where you're moving to might just have better connections to AntiVir lol.

Think positive, keep well and all the very best to both of you. Looking forward to your speedy return just as soon as possible.

Also many happy belated birthday returns.

Lawton, OK is going to be a bit less expensive than Wichita-area KS.

But don't forget us down here in Texas. Abilene has Dyess AFB, (home of the B1) and a very good hospital. The cost of living is very reasonable.

It's a bit more expensive than OK, but less than KS.

(NOTE: I obtained this info from www.salary.com and their moving/relocation calculator.)

EDIT: Wichita Falls, TX has a lower COL than the Lawton area, FWIW, as well, with Sheppard AFB nearby.

:-* The "Wildman" is going to tell you truthfully, angles post here at Wilders, and I consider a good many of them to be my friends.

The decision is made, BB, BJ and their kids will be having a new neighbor, the Wildman is packing a u-haul with the absolutely necessary items, putting his fat butt in the drivers seat, the "spouse" in the passenger side and he is getting the hell out of California, and starting a new life.

I thank you all my wonderful Wilders friends, from the bottom of my heart. The Ole Wildman was really down in the dumps, but your concern and moral support has been a God send.

    Thanks
    Bill, a.k.a. Wildman
