Since yesterday when accessing my external USB drive containing a full Acronis version 8 working image of my C drive, I am receiving a message box as follows...
    Error starting program
The C:\Windows\System\Snapapi.dll file appears to be corrupt.
Reinstall the file and try again.

This dll seems to be essential for the correct operation of TI but I'm not sure if it's a windows file or an Acronis file, in order to go looking for it.

I ran System file checker (SFC) and it showed the file had been removed, and after selecting " Extract one file from installation disk" and typing in the file name it failed to find the missing file.

Could anyone please tell me if it;a Windows or Acronis file because at the moment I can not use my image at all.

    Regards BOEING

I looked at mine and the properties show it as being Acronis Snapshot Dynamic Link Library or words to that effect. The Company is listed as Acronis. So, I say Acronis not MS.

Thank you for your swift reply and I can now concentrate on restoring the file from my Acronis installation, could you please confirm that the destination is
C:\Windows\System\snapapi.dll, because I also have the file in C:\Windows\Acronis\Drivers\snapapi.dll and not sure which is corrupt.

Mine is in C:\Windows\System32 Note that it is System32 not just plain System.

    I don't have a C:\Windows\Acronis\ folder.

    Hello BOEING,

I've just checked a TI 8 installation and can confirm seekforever's statement - snapapi.dll is in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder.

Makes me wonder if any other TI elements have gone AWOL on your system. It might be a good idea to uninstall TI via Windows Control Panel "Add or Remove Programs", reboot and then reinstall.

    Regards

After uninstall and reboot, check your system32 directory to make sure that the file is deleted. Sometimes files are not deleted completely.

Hi guys thanks for all your helpfull comments, and I now have a much clearer picture of the situation, and best action to take, which will probably be the file check that VolkerNadolsk suggests, and then a reinstallation as Menorcaman advises.

I will report back with any progress.
    Regards BOEING

Hi my friends I have today completely removed the existing True Image and reinstalled the program, and I'm happy to say all is well again with the missing files in their correct locations.

Many thanks for your help in this fine forum :)
    Regards BOEING
