Agreed. Its better than Norton at what it does but damn it, I want to see the Nod splash screen coming up everytime I switch on my mac and know that I have the best protection an NFR licence can give you!

(You may well be wondering what a mac user is doing lurking around the nod forum - I'm a reseller, honest!)

And given that mac's now account for between 10% and 12% of the national market share (source: http://www.yaledailynews.com/article.asp?AID=28553) maybe it is time to seriously consider a mac version and I can volunteer to be a beta tester :D

Some of these might come under RA use, but as a reseller to home users and some home/small businesses that wouldn't benefit from RA they would be very helpful.

    1. Give the user a "Email to x" button on the scan results page.

    2. Have NOD32 email the reseller every x days with current db version/found threats.

    3. Integrate Internet Explorer's Restricted Sites zone into IMON.

    4. Increase NOD32's resistance to being forcibly removed by altering the ACLs on various objects.

    5. A "Reset all settings to default" button.

    Details:

    1. If the scan found a threat or the user had other concerns about the results it would be great if they could just press the button and it would be emailed straight to me.

    2. This would help identify if a client's NOD32 installation was falling behind for some reason.

    3. You could then block all executable content/javascript etc. from Restricted Sites. As Spybot S&D, IE-SPYAD and other anti-spyware software use this location to store known "bad" web sites it could be a valuable resource, as well as any that the user/reseller have added.

    4. If no users (including SYSTEM) have write/delete access to NOD32's registry settings, critical files, services and processes then the popular method of viruses butchering anti-virus could be overcome. There could be an "unlock" method in NOD32's uninstaller and in the options that uses the Take Ownership priviledge to re-allow write/delete for changes or uninstallation. One could also have a process constantly monitoring these for malicious changes.

    5. This could be used to set NOD32's settings back to default or how they were set when installed (if a config file was used, as I do).

Not sure about licensing issues, but...

Could you not, as a reseller, ask them if they would like to be hooked up to a Remote Administrator Server under your control for these functions rather than adding these into the basic Nod32?

Not strictly NOD32-related, but a PGP signature of all of the downloads/manuals would be appreciated!

We would like to see the ability for applying configuration changes repetitively without changing the mirror:

    1. An xml file that sits on the local mirror and the client reads/syncs his configuration at every update to this configuration.

    2. The ability for a repeating task in the remote administrator.

This is needed for us to have a local mirror at different sites and with their own configuration/notification options (to local support) and have this applied whenever the user goes between sites.

I just want an easier way to stretch the running scan log easier as most of the computers I work with don't support higher than 1024x768... it's a PITA to view the entire root directory of some files.

    Hi,

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I find a great improvement in Nod32 would be some additional module which would handle Zero-day protection, I mean :

Advanced Heursistics are indeed powerful, but they can alway miss some malware. So an additional layer of protection would be some proactive module that uses behavioral detection (like Process injection detection, critical registry key writing interception, application component control, process hiding from task manager, etc.)

That seems to me, in addition to the signatures and the existing AH, the one thing that would make Nod32 really "complete" against today's threats, and I'd prefer to see thsi integrated to Nod and running smoothly and efficiently, than installing dedicated software, which means, more residents, more CPU usage, more memory usage, and possible conflicts.

That's just a suggestion, anyway, and may have been posted before, but, nearly 400 posts is too much for me to read at once :D

    Ice.

    NOD32 v3 Wish List

At the end of the scan, I wish you could right-click and save the entire log file instead of just one line at a time. PLEASE add that option to the context menu in the next version. Then the user can choose to copy one line or all lines.

Do the same whenever a user accesses the Logs (Scanner, Threat, Event) from the NOD32 interface even when not running a scan.

Add event-triggered scheduled task for NOD32 Update when username and/or password changed.

It is not possible to immediately confirm that the username and password have been entered correctly. It would help if told that they are OK or NOT OK. Also, by adding the outcome to the Event Log would keep an audit trail.

    thanks

That would be handy - I think some of what you're asking for is already included. You can export a whole Scanner log file from the Logs module - go into Details in the specific log's content menu, then Export To File from the new window's content menu.

The ability to maximize the Quarantine window.
The ability to maximize the Exclusions window (AMON, etc).

That way you don't have to keep scrolling to the right. Many files have long names and paths. It is very annoying not to be able to maximize these windows to see read the data more easily.

Being able to save the full scan log
Being able to scan outgoing email
Having a one click function to disable the AV proggie (everything)
NO suite introduction, just the same standalone, great product of NOD32
Make it not only the best AV product, but the best anti-trojan product as well..

Currently you can right-click in the Logs module to COPY ALL (all lines) or COPY SELECTED (one line).
Currently you can right-click in the scan results window to COPY SELECTED (one line). You can't COPY ALL from there, and it would be nice to be able to!

Find a way to protect NOD32's log files, .dat files, and registry entries from being deleted by other applications (e.g., CCleaner), so that they cannot remove the scan histories, threat logs, etc.

If CCleaner 'cleans' NOD32, the logs and histories are gone and will not work again even if you uncheck NOD32 in CCleaner. You have to uninstall NOD32, delete the Eset folder, and reinstall NOD32 and in order to fix that.

    Hello,

1.Make (EMON)/NOD32 compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird.

2.Make the part of "MS Office document monitor (DMON)" customizable, which means being available to monitor other thinks, this would be useful for people who dont use ms office, and want to monitor other things.

3.Improve the GUI/make it look better.Which means:dont change anything just make it look much better.

For Example: "TuneUp Utilies 2004/2006", besides new things which got added to the 2006 version the GUI got changed and looks much more smooth and better.

Thats all for now i think.Would be great if these adjustments could be added/changed.

    Thanks.

Make Mozilla Thunderbird support Exchange extensions and EMON will scan email fine as it does with MS Outlook.

    Marcos:

I use Mozilla (now SeaMonkey) mail, and NOD32's IMON module scans all incoming messages with no problem, because they are Pop3.

My understanding was that IMON scanned all Pop3 mail, regardless of the email program being used.

So what else needs to be done, and why? (Outbound email scanning, albeit perhaps redundant, would comfort those to whom I send email. But I don't think that is the issue being raised here.)

And could you tell me where to find out what you mean by "Exchange extensions"?

Are you talking about Microsoft Exchange?

Thanks for any help (from anyone) about this.

That's right. If EMON was to scan incoming/outgoing email, the mail client would have to support MAPI as well as MS Exchange extentions.

1.Make NOD32 to protect itself so malicious stuff cannot access it.
2.Make the way the updates work more secure like in SSL or something.

Updates are secured enough as I remember every update package has a digital signature.

Another thing that would be really nice to have would be the ability of the user to change profiles while the settings were password protected. For our use, it would be nice to have a few profiles set up that the user can't change, but they could choose between them depending on the location as to where they hook up (e.g. local LAN, home, traveling).

I don't know how difficult it would be, but if you could provide the option of "not on battery power" on the automatically scheduled scans. You already provide the option of at a certain time or as soon as possible afterwards, but if your program could be made aware of the power state of a laptop and not start the scan "as soon as possible afterwards" when the laptop is on battery power. This happened to me while working on a plane this past weekend and only because I knew the password we had set up was I able to disable the scan while I was on battery power.
