Making Image takes ~20 min. BUT restore takes ~2 hours???

I like using TI 9.0 build 2337 with my Dell 8400 desktop. It works just fine - taking ~20min. to image ~14 gig.; and about the same time to restore using Rescue CD.

I received a Dell Inspiron 6000, notebook, for Christmas. It has ~80 gig HD, with ~6 gig of OS/programs on it. I setup a second partition [~13 gig] on this hd, just for TI-images. I bought a second license and installed TI 9.0 build 2337 on the notebook. Then used the notebooks CD drive to make a "rescue CD".

QUESTION: It takes TI ~ 20 minutes to image & Check Image of the ~6 gig of stuff on the C: drive. Putting this image on the second partition. I've no problem with this timing, I guess, 'cause the notebook's HD runs at 5400 rpm vs. the desktop's 7200 rpm.
But using the notebook's rescue CD to restore the C:'s image & check files takes nearly a full 2 hours. The restored C: drive seems to work just fine. But why 2 hours to restore, vs. only ~20 minutes for the desktop? I'm hoping Acronis ( or some user ) can offer suggestions.

FWIW, I had to do a full HDD image restore the other day on one of my computers, where a full HDD image backup takes about 14 minutes, including verification. The restore took over 2 hours, without doing a verification before restoring.

I did have to set the acpi=off no apic to get the restore CD to run properly and perhaps that has something to do with it.

try to optimize the hard disk settings at Bios level

Reason:
XP knows how to optimize the hard disk when backup
TrueImage Restore does not optimize the hard disk, only use the default

Thanks for trying to offer some help. But I'm not knowledgable about computers enough to know what you're talking about. I have sent Acronis the reports they requested, and await their response.

Meanwhile, if anyone can offer some help for a real computer "newbie" please do so.
